Have the best time @BigSkies2022 I’m living through you so share lots!!

@Rainbow1901 I thought you meant you had pet rats and the pepper was for them! Hope it stops them moving into yours.

Today cost me £25 on a pizza for DS and £15 on a T-shirt for DW from Vinted. Aiming for at least a LSD tomorrow.

Alfiemoon1 · 24/03/2026 22:54

Not a very frugal day £3.50 on a bacon butty and monster from the butty van as it was my day in the office today and I was starving and stressed I only work in the office 2 days a week but that meant I have not eaten my yogurt and granola or the pack lunch I took. In my defence I have spoken to every crank and nutjob on the planet today so that bacon butty probably stopped me from having a breakdown or quitting.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 25/03/2026 14:58

Good afternoon everyone 🤗
It's on and off raining here today and as windy as hell here 😱.
Gone to Costco and bought a few bits we are getting low on

£88 Costco
£9 lunch for the 3 of us from Costco
Cancer charity shop £3 for 4 books and 5 dvds .
Tesco £25
Waitrose £10 for cheese
The cover off our wing mirror was stolen would you believe it 🙄
So that's £35 for the cover and aerosol paint to cover it . Hey ho 🙄
The person who does that must have so poor a life that they have to steal such an item .
Almost makes you feel sorry for them that they have to resort to doing that . I would rather have given them the money for it tbh .
Hope everyone is having a good day 😁

All for Dd1 😁

£570 for not repairs and service. £10 McDonald's for ds and I, £5 Tesco.

needastrongone · 25/03/2026 16:54

Afternoon.

I am amused by the thought of a whole me lost 😁. You’ve done amazing @MuddlingLong, do you feel different?

I too am eagerly awaiting DC updates from @BigSkies2022 and feeling very cultured and sophisticated hearing about the gallery visits. I hope you are having an excellent time. Keep sharing!

Oh dear @Alfiemoon1 that doesn’t sound like the best day you ever had.

Sorry to hear about the wing mirror @DirtyGertiefromno30, agree - I’d rather give them the money than have the hassle of having to replace.

So today is ‘payday’ and I have a few rolled over budgets from my Emma app. Namely, Bills, Groceries, General, Cleaners, Garden, and House. Some of which are planned roll overs to fill up the pots for later in the year, some are just underspends and give me a bit of leeway. I overspent the Dog pot - but only because his food and grooming both came out of last month, there will be nothing to spend on him this coming month. I overspent on Health too - but again, that will even out.

Tomorrow I’ll stick a small amount into my pension, up to tax limits (I didn’t earn much this year so it’s not a huge amount) and max out the rest of my ISA. With Stocks and Shares being low at the minute, at least the money will hopefully buy more.

Spends
£90 Marks and Spencer on Easter Eggs and stocking up on meat that was yellow stickered.
£8. Boots.
£10 Blue Badge renewal fee for DH.

We’ve had a nice walk in the sunshine today, if blustery and I’ve done a track session. Just having a cuppa before I crack on.

Hope everyone is okay.

Frugal25 · 25/03/2026 17:13

Afternoon all,

@BigSkies2022 that day sounds amazing! I'm also living through you and absolutely loving it!
@DirtyGertiefromno30 what a low life to steal a party of your car. I agree with @ChipshopPickledEgg about it the hedgehog, she always has the best and funniest advice!

I was meant to meet a friend for lunch today and it wasn't on my budget so was a little anxious about the cost but she bailed so I went for a walk with another friend and watched the ducks instead which was free.

Had a breakthrough at work today so this is good, considering person in my team is being a bit bolshy at the mo with me and everyone else.

Home to roast some salmon and veg for dinner.

Lockin26 · 25/03/2026 17:35

£1.90 for a bottle of diet coke for the bus home. Managed to resist temptation to buy a sausage roll in Greggs.
DH picked up a new chainsaw that was £279 plus he spent £30 on what I suspect is chain oil or a hat with ear defenders. He's going to cut our shed down (it's made of reused decking) before the new one comes. He is trained in tree surgery (not done it for a number of years) so I'll leave that to him.

@DirtyGertiefromno30 boo to the wing mirror theft!
@BigSkies2022 DC sounds amazing - love your updates.
Sounds a decent day @Frugal25

I'm headed home after a long day. Nearly tempted by fish and chips but I'll make hunters chicken with m&s triple cooked chips instead. Money saved and slightly less cals!

MuddlingLong · 25/03/2026 18:17

@Lockin26 those chips are delicious. Enjoy your dinner!
@DirtyGertiefromno30 urgh to the little shits who stole your wing mirror!
@Frugal25 glad to hear it about work.

I've got a taster session at the charity shop next Wednesday booked in to kick start my six months of volunteering! I do already do two evenings a week at the foodbank.

£35 on lunch out with DW today- an unexpected treat after she gave herself the day off as she's feeling really burnt out, she's been having middle of the night calls for weeks which have now thankfully stopped but she needed a day. She went out for lunch with me then spent the afternoon reading- she never takes time off EVER so I'm proud of her for saying what she needed.

Lockin26 · 26/03/2026 16:18

£144 Costco monthly shop. Will try not to visit again until late April!
£1.50 hot dog and fanta, caved on the way out as I was really hungry! Will miss tea now and go running tonight.

Tomorrow will be spendy as I've got two beauty appointments then lunch with my friend. Weekend I plan to be low spend with lots of sorting in the house!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/03/2026 17:28

Afternoon everyone 😊

A spendy day for me today and it's not over yet.
£99 in Lidl as I stocked up on bits although cupboards are full. I got a bit "I need to provide".
£18 on getting into a local farm and took a picnic. The money did include animal feed and attractions so we spent the day there and had such a brilliant time even I didn't want to leave.
Out tonight with my friend for dinner. We only see each other twice a year so hopefully a lovely time. Will post back with how much.

Something odd happening with my cards today. Got to the till in Lidl and they just didn't work. None of them. Had to use my savings card to pay. And again at the farm. Need to have a look tomorrow when I'm WFH and see what's going on and then pay myself back from what I've taken out of savings. I know money is there as I've just been paid.

@MuddlingLonghope the volunteering goes well!

Haven't been to Costco for years but always have fun in there!

MuddlingLong · 26/03/2026 19:27

Thanks ladies ☺️ roll on Wednesday! The charity shop is brand new and just opened last week too so it’ll be good to be part of a whole new team as well all be in it together.

£50 getting my nails done. £25 was a gift voucher for a lovely friend who’s been so kind to me recently.

£11 in the bakery for lunch for me and DS but this was free with my vouchers I won!

chimichangaz · 26/03/2026 20:38

Hi all
That's useful information about Oyster card vs debit card as I have a London weekend in a few weeks.

@Frugal25 how is the washing liquid you've made (Nancy B isn't it?) - I was thinking of doing some.

@BigSkies2022 your Washington DC trip sounds amazing.
Good work on the volunteering at the charity shop @MuddlingLong 👏

Just checked my bank - logged a NSD Tues and Weds and spent £408 today paying the balance of a weekend at a caravan park in May (but my share is only 1/3; waiting to get paid back for the other 2/3)

I know I will be spending £350 tomorrow as I am booking some more PT sessions. Possibly doing the weekly shop or at least part of it tomorrow. I also owe a friend about £100 as she has booked theatre tickets for us while we are in London, and will also be booking a hop on hop off bus. I am also going to book a private blood test - I had a comprehensive 'well woman' type blood test last year and it was really interesting; I tweaked my Vit D as a result. I have been feeling low energy and very achy the last few weeks so I do wonder if I have something brewing, which hopefully the test may show up. Will have a look for a discount code first, otherwise it's about £175 (which is worth it anyway, I think, but if a discount is available I'm all for it!). It also helps to see what's going on with my body relating to my medical condition (ulcerative colitis) as I only see the consultant annually now.

Really need to buckle down and spend time over the weekend sorting finances as I need to look at my ISA and see about potentially opening a new one.

I also had a couple of calls from the Fin Ombud this week about my complaint. Hopefully that will get moving towards a resolution now. Only 6 months after submitting it!

The car repairs and service was £510. Suspension problems from all the potholes. It's an old car, had lots of advisories, so will be looking at another one soon.

I'm not going to post everything but I've not been very good on frivolous spending. Nothing major, but little and often.

Payday today and I'm appreciating the extra shift I did last month. I also enjoyed seeing my overtime page at work yesterday for this month as I've worked and extra shift and a half. Might take it easy next month. I've allredy given one away so I'll look to pick up one more.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 27/03/2026 12:04

Well I am certainly ready for the weekend.
Payday today I am on a mission this month to not buy anything unnecessary particularly important as it's half term and that is expensive and quite frankly my daughter much prefers the cheap activities at the moment so the expenditure is really my fault.
Need some summer school uniform though. At the moment she has about two weeks worth but it's getting small think I am going to only buy four days with this time and one sports kit and try and make do the summer term is much shorter so can't really justify it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/03/2026 12:58

Tons of spends. Last bathroom payment £900
halls reservation fee £50
food &££

what have you posted that is naughty big for your post to be hidden?

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/03/2026 13:42

Good afternoon everyone 🤗
Been to see Mum who was fine there thankfully.
Weather is awful grey miserable cold and rainy 🙄

Morning all, yay it's Friday!!!
Redone budget and it's looking healthy this month. Any extra at the end will go on my credit card.
NSD today. WFH and got everything I need.

Work is frustrating today but a few hours left and I'm free for two weeks.

£35 for dinner and drinks last night with friend for her birthday. Not too bad I thought.

Frugal25 · 27/03/2026 13:59

Oh @chimichangaz the washing detergent is amazing. Works best on longer washes like a hot bedding wash or an eco wash. But it does really work. I put essential oil in it and it smells amazing too.

chimichangaz · 27/03/2026 14:28

I will give it a try @Frugal25 😊

I am also wondering what on earth @BigSkies2022 has said to have that post hidden.....🤔

ChipshopPickledEgg · 27/03/2026 16:18

Also wondered 😆
