Sofa blocking radiator & heat loss

Hi,
Does anyone use a radiator heat reflector? Are they any good? It just looks like a big piece of shiny foil, but my sofa is directly infront of the only downstairs radiator, so I'm looking for ways to increase its efficiency. Could I stick the reflector to the back of the sofa?
Thanks!

Way back I used tinfoil behind the radiator to push the heat towards the room and away from the outside wall

yiu don’t want the reflector on the sofa as that shines the heat back out

if you can pull the sofa out a little that will also help

Unless there is a gap then the reflector will just be insulating the sofa potentially?

Coukd you replace the radiator with a vertical radiator or move the sofa forwards at all? The reflective foil should go on the wall behind the radiator to reflect the heat out. You could also fit a radiator shelf a little Above to help push the heat into the room instead of up?

Badically, move it he sofa forward, put the reflective stuff on the wall behind the radiator and use a shelf to push the heat forward instead of up.

I have a radiator fan on the radiator in the bedroom. It forces the heat into the room and costs pennies to run, also only comes on when the heating is on.

Thanks everyone. There is a gap between the radiator & sofa, but it's only about 2ish inches and there isn't space for more. The back of the sofa feels warm to the touch.

No option to change the radiator, but I'll look into radiator fans.

They were very popular in the 80s and 90s and I still ocassionally see them sometimes in rentals. They do do a very good job.

Tbh I reckon you could sellotape a bunch of tin foil to a bit bit of cardboard and get the same effect.
