Hi all. I just searched to see if there were any threads on this. Have you all signed up?

Are there any cons to this? So often if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is?! I’m trying to understand what the downsides are to this? If there are no downsides, surely everyone in the country (who has a smart meter) should sign up?

I’m keen to do anything to save some money (especially electricity, as I have no gas, so it’s really expensive in winter) but I want to make sure I’m not making a mistake.

What could be seen as negatives are:

You have to sign up to the uSwitch app
Limited to £25 per person
You need to have a smart meter
You have to sign up to a 5 hour slot in advance, either Saturday or sunday
You need to withdraw any funds within 90days
You can withdraw a minimum of £1
Withdrawals may take some time, payments are processed once a month.

Edited to add: I spend on average £2.50 on a Saturday or Sunday for the whole 24hrs, so will have to make a concerted effort to use more electricity in the 5 hour slot to get the maximum benefit of £5.

Thanks @Goldpanther It sounds like it’s definitely worth signing up then. The worst that can happen is I don’t get the full benefit, but every penny helps. Hopefully I can plan in some bulk cooking and get lots of washing done etc. (I might also be able to have the heating on if it gets cold by then!)
