Any experience with Fuse Energy?

I have recently moved from UW to Fuse energy and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with them and would you recommend - stupidly I made the switch before realising they charge what you use per month…I’m not looking forward to this winter and I’ll be holding off putting my CH on for as long as possible!

I made the switch too and was nervous about the variable direct debits but noticed that if you click on the tab to change direct debit dates, there’s an option to set up a fixed did. Just an fyi in case you didn’t know. Also I have a referral code for anyone that wants one. REBECCA45247 this is valid until September 18 2026 and adds £100 to your account. Enjoy :)

Been with them for nearly a year and all has been fine.

I moved house and have Fuse. Variable amount DD has not been an issue because the cost has been significantly lower than in my previous home. Had an e mail the other day to say I can switch to a fixed amount direct debit.

I’ve just switched to fuse as their standing charges were much lower than my previous provider. I’ve just changed the DD as I prefer to pay a fixed amount. On the app at the bottom there’s a home icon. Click on the symbol/icon next to it and it takes you to your Wallet. There’s an arrow where your bank details are. Click on the arrow. You should be able to change the DD from variable to fixed.

I've just changed to Fuse, I wanted to change to a Fixed DD, but they set the amount far too high and there was no option for me to change the amount on the app. I'm sticking with Variable for the time bring, but may phone to see if I can specify a fixed DD amount I'm happy with.

Thanks for the post @CandidLurker - I'm not going to do it though because it changes my variable payment of around £40pcm to £150 😱

Yes it made my monthly amount more than I was paying previously. However I’m owed quite a lot of credit from the previous supplier so that will offset it over most of the winter I’m hoping. Although using electricity at the moment seems equivalent to burning £10 notes and haven’t even started with heating yet.

But if you stay on variable, you'll probably be paying more like £250 pm in December to March when you put the heating on. Fine if your budget can accommodate that, but a lot of people prefer or even need to spread the cost throughout the year.

Fuse have been so much cheaper for me than Eon who I was with before. We like the variable DD. We just bank the extra in the summer to cover the winter payments. Better in my bank than theirs,! We've been with them a year now and no problems whatsoever.

I’m with them too, it’s really annoying that they won’t let you set your own direct debit but I didn’t find that out until I’d signed up. You can do dd but they set it really high so I’ve left it at variable for now. Why can they not let people set it and then increase if required?

Octopus became too expensive for us. And fuse are giving £100 credit if you sign up through a referral

I’ve just moved to Fuse from Octopus - about 10% cheaper.

i am just transferring the monthly money that I used for octopus for savings and I will take bills out of there - so I have my own pot and will keep monthly costs static.

I've been with them for just over a year for electricity and a month for gas (after Octopus' Tracker went insane). I've not experienced any errors or issues so far.

They will let you set up a direct debit after being a customer for a year. I’ve decided to stick with monthly variable as it helps me track what I’m using and I just save extra money throughout summer in my own bank account rather than theirs :)
