Just got this email and I'm freaking out! Does it look legit? The email address it's came from is [email protected]

100% scam

A legit letter would also suggest that you can get help from Citizens Advice.
It doesn't tell you who the "original debt " is with.

Agree with others; scam.

It doesn’t even tell you what the debt is for - reputable debt collectors will pit the name of the company they are collecting for in their contact.

Also no debt recovery company would ever suggest you take out a loan to pay back a debt, that would be extremely unethical.

Definitely a scam. They are very vague about things - no quoted figure, no reference to whom is actually chasing this ‘debt’; riddled with grammatical errors. Reputable collectors will not recommend taking out a loan to pay debts.

it’s a bit of a mess, really - yet official looking enough to scare people like my mother who is not internet savvy, but thankfully she’d run it by me first.

i fear for those who wouldn’t, though - which is exactly the sort of victim they’re targeting…

My advice to you though is ignore and block.

Scam. How would they get your email and they are not giving any detail of your alleged debt.

Well known scam, the exact same wording with different variations of company name
and gmail is posted all over the web including mumsnet.
