A frugal shopping challenge that lets you help others out

I'm hoping by shopping for others it may curb some impulse shopping for some of us.

The challenge is to find the lowest price on a reputable, mainstream site (not shein or temu) for an item someone is asking for.

The rules:
If you think the person is after a frivolous spend, challenge them! Ask why they want it, and do they really need it? Interrogate whether the spend is justified, then, if they still want it, share the link!

I'm searching for Fairy Non Bio powder

Why is Fairy Non Bio an impulse buy?

It's not.
It's finding low priced items, but if you think someone is asking for a frivolous spend you can challenge it.

@Frugalityfromnowon do you have access to Costco? They do huge boxes of dairy non bio at competitive prices.
just had a search and Savers and Ocado both have it on sale.

have you thought about trying a different brand?

I’m after Pampers size 3 nappies 😅

Does it have to be fairy - I found the Aldi none bio fine on my skin

Sadly no Costco nearby, and other brands causes skin irritation for one of my children. If there is a dupe I'm happy to try it. I've tried all the supermarket own brands.

Asda has a pack of 70 for £13 or 2 packs of 70 for £19

Helpful to know what your target to beat is? I buy laundry detergent from Amazon. Fairy (9kg) item number B07V6GZBLM is currently £31.50. There's a multibuy offer as well, but one of those massive packs lasts me well over a year (max of half the recommended dose). Keep an eye on the price which does fluctuate - my last box cost £22.96 in October 2022, but prices have gone up since then. Camelcamelcamel can help you pounce at the right moment.

Pampers - Morissons have 50 for £6 (12p each).

Have you joined the Pampers Website? You can scan QR codes and save up points and get vouchers and freebies.

Try making soap nut liquid ( easy to make), add eco bleach, stain remover as needed, very cheap, best for lightly soiled clothes

I got persil non bio from tescos today, my online shopping app had a £1.75 off £7 laundry powder voucher. Do you shop online via Tescos?

JC03745 · 09/01/2025 22:29

no Costco nearby

You can get an online account instead. No need to go anywhere near a store!
