What is the best place to live in Wokingham for families?

I'm planning to move to Wokingham with my family and would love some advice. Which areas are considered the most family-friendly? Looking for places with good schools, parks, and a safe, welcoming community. Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean Wokingham town, or Wokingham BC? If the former then avoid Norreys Avenue area, other than that it's all okay, including the schools. Cantley Park is great for sports and play activities. There are thousands of new builds which I can't comment on as I don't know these estates very well.

Wokingham BC is more diverse - There are three towns: Woodley (closer to Reading and probably a bit cheaper than Wokingham Town), Twyford (on Elizabeth line, good links to London) and Wokingham itself.

There are villages like Barkham and Finchampstead and a big new "garden village" called Arborfield Green where there used to be an army base years ago. The later has a primary and secondary school (all well thought of), community centre, playing fields and they are just building a new Sainsbury's.

Also closer to Reading is Shinfield which is being redeveloped to include hundreds more houses. I'm not a fan of this area, although it has good transport links - close to the M4 Junction 11 and good bus service to Reading. From what I've heard the primary schools are okay but the secondary - Oakbank - is poor. The area floods (Shinfield is a very old corruption of "Shining field" due to the flooding).

I'm not personally a fan of Earley, although lots of people like it. The old part of Earley is okay but I wouldn't like to live on the estate. It seems to be a big warren all centred around a massive Asda supermarket.

Woosehill, Finchampstead, Emmbrook, Buttercup Estate or Lower Earley. Avoid Norreys.
