Gas meter readings for November

Just done our readings for November, and had to do it three times and look at the online instructions for the meter to check I was doing it right, as had jumped so much from previous month!(About 600% increase!). Gone through old bills: about 6 times last November, and comparable to this January. I know was cold, and we had snow, in November, but think will catch a lot of people by suprise! It did me!!

How much have you used?
I did readings today and apparently used 1327.73kwh of gas in novemebr, which cost £86.69

Electricity was worse and cost £255 as dh has been charging his car at home.

£130 for gas: but the meter isn't broken. Two adults, one a bit vulnerable to cold, two young children, rotating bugs in the house between us all for three if the four weeks, both work from home. It was just the jump that caught me out. And the usage being like January, before winter has technically started.
I don't envy your electric!! But whack in our petrol probably about similar.

Oh,and usage was 2019 kwh

My November readings/charges for both electricity and gas have surprised me, and not in a good way.

NewGreenDuck · 01/12/2024 19:05

Mine are a lot higher too. It was really chilly last month. A very cold wind off the sea. I kept the heating on for longer and I know I used more electric too. It's not so cold today so the heating hasn't been on as much.

£130 for a month's gas in winter isn't high. You probably used a lot of it during that week where it barely got above freezing.

I agree,but as was, on paper,still autumn,I didn't twig till I saw the usage.

I did,but then the last week was warmer, and I apparently have the memory of a gnat!😁👍 It was more the reality of seeing that leap in one month in autumn, when it's usually (only really been paying proper attention the last two or three years) something that builds to a peak of this level in January and February.

Sounds about right

I used 1434 so slightly more than you at 5.65p so £92

Been bitterly cold -2 at night. All frozen

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2024 09:40

More then @dementedpixie but not as much as yog @Autumnchilltime

But still £130 isn't bad

Think it was 2/3yrs ago and 10p and Nov and dec bills were £350 for gas alone

Dueanamechange2025 · 02/12/2024 09:57

Just had a look at mine:

1489 kWh £88.00 (plus standing charge £9.37) so roughly £98.00 and pretty much same for electric so bill was £200.21
