Hi, I’m trying to work out what my take home pay would roughly be each month. Here is a breakdown of the gross pay I’ll be getting. I only work 18.5 hours per week and my salary is roughly £18.5k. I will continue to pay into the pension scheme which is 5.8% of my gross pay. Thanks in advance

The SMP is done by full week not per month as this got me with our company. So if the week finishes on a Thursday that whole Monday to Friday moves to the next months pay. So you can only count SMP as full weeks, drove me round the bend!

there are online take home pay calculators online (just do an engine search).

They don’t work for this as it’s different pay each month I have tried

The personal allowance is £12,570 per year so £1,047.50 per month.

If you take your gross pay and deduct 5.8% pension, NI of 8% and then the £1047.50 the rest is taxed at 20%. Add the 80% plus £1047.50 to get a rough net pay figure.

In the months you earn less than £1047.50 you will pay no tax.

It’s a rough calculation but will give you an idea.
