PIP - managed to make the DWP back down!

I just wanted to give a bit of hope to people who are going through PIP reviews or applying for PIP.

I was awarded the basic PIP award for daily living & transport support a few years ago for 2 long term health condition after taking the DWP up to tribunal stage.

I had my review in January and the DWP cut my award in half although I had just had a life-threatening episode a couple of months earlier after my health deteriorated.

I appealed and filled in the paperwork for a tribunal appeal. Out of the blue I got a call last week to say the DWP were offering to restore my full award to avoid going to the tribunal again...

I just wanted to share this because I know how soul destroying it is to have to fill in all these forms and to feel like you are being battered at every corner and how the system is built to make people just want to give up.

My PIP award allows me to stay in employment and to do the type of therapy that helps manage my condition better, so for me it is a life saver.

So please don't be deterred by the idea of going all the way to tribunal if you find yourself in a situation similar to mine.

Well done.

If you have the courage and persistence to go to Tribunal the success rate is pretty good.

That's great news, the system is so hostile glad you didn't have to go to a tribunal again

The whole PIP system needs looking at, and reform, imo.
