About £125 a week at Tesco. If I could put in what I wanted and not have to think about money it would be about £150. Also spend about £50 a month in Aldi. 3 adults, 1 teen and 1 child. 3 cats.x

Our shopping is 120.00 a week including petrol.Shop at Lidl, & Tesco when we need a treat! We try to budget for £15.00 a day.we are a retired couple, waiting for our state pensions,we cannot find any employment that pays.So are living in our own modest house on £ 700.00 a month. Its tough, but some people are having to live on less once they have paid rent/mortgage.

At786 · 31/05/2024 00:58

Approx £200 - £250

Theoldwoman · 31/05/2024 01:13

Well I’m in Australia, but thought I would add mine.

4 adults but DH is away (FIFO) Mon - Fri.

Mostly shop at Aldi. Some things from Woolworths and Costco.

We spend around AUD $1500 per month.

Doesnt include pets as we buy online separately. Includes all toiletries. No allergies. Cook mostly from scratch. Takeaway usually one a fortnight. No meal plan really.

Lifelikinotdothinki · 31/05/2024 01:17

Two adults, £100 a week. This includes everything, cleaning products, sanitary towels, birthday cards, etc. Ocado.

Zoflorabore · 31/05/2024 09:53

We’re 3 adults and a teenager plus a greedy husky and spend approx £250 per week if not more.

i shop at Tesco but use Iceland and Farmfoods every couple of weeks to top the freezer up.
food is by far our biggest expense and we easily spend twice our rent money on food. I often get home and feel robbed when I see what X amount has got me, feels less each time I shop.

PostMenPatWithACat · 31/05/2024 09:58

About £180 including toiletries and cleaning stuff. It doesn't include pet food which is an additional £100 a month for two cats and yes they are spoilt. 2 adults and one adult home about three times a week.

We eat well but not extravagantly.

Tescos and Waitrose.

If I were less time poor and more financially poor I could probably shave off £30 to £40pw.

Icequeen01 · 31/05/2024 10:20

I'm currently spending about £800 per month for 4 adults and 3 cats. That covers everything such as toiletries, cleaning and cat food. We shop in Sainsburys and Tesco (where I get discount). It's a huge amount.

AGodawfulsmallaffair · 31/05/2024 10:26

I’ve just spent £100 in Tesco for my 24 yr son and I as he’s just found out he has high cholesterol so it was more than usual. I stocked up on wholewheat pasta, brown rice, nuts and grains, things I don’t often buy. Plus a lot of veg fish etc. Most healthy shop I’ve ever done, but it should last a while.

Mumto3sons · 31/05/2024 10:31

Just asking if anybody has bought a snuggle sofa from DFS and if so was it comfy with 2 adults when NOT snuggling!

BCBird · 29/09/2024 20:13

About 80 pound. 1 adult. No booze

Autumnchilltime · 29/09/2024 20:29

About £140 a week , two adults, two under eight, and that's something I'm trying to stick to then bring down but hard for time/health reasons. And Ocado online

TeenLifeMum · 29/09/2024 20:31

£280 a week for five of us (3 teens who eat everything).

menopausalmare · 29/09/2024 20:34

Probably £170-180 a week. Family of 4 plus two fussy cats. This includes household and toiletries. We don't eat out and we don't have takeaways and create very little food waste so it's all eaten.

ScarletWitchM · 29/09/2024 22:24

Ours used to be £80 a week for 2 adults & 1 teenager but now is about ) £110 per week on Ocado

Thank you everyone! I’ve been trying to cut my spending where I can and realised I’m spending easily £150-170 a week on a food shop for us five from Tesco. I might try shopping around a bit but it looks like it’s not much above what others are spending either.

Its actually terrifying how we’re supposed to live with these costs and yet I don’t see anything being done about it 😞

Easy to say, nothing is being done, factor in climate changes, and crop failures too, this adds up to is bigger picture.
Most of us can change some of what we eat, I know some are afrid, or have allergies.
Cat and I ( he’s £20 a month) averaging around £55 a week, scratch cooking tho, of the above I spend roughly £10 in butcher’s
.Mainly Lidl, don’t drive, online too expensive
Top up bits as needed, more veggie these days

followmyflow · 30/09/2024 23:00

2 adults
we spend £300 in a cheap month and £400 in a more expensive month, so average about £350. toiletries and kitchen things add about £20-50 a month. a couple of years ago i would have BALKED at this number but after taking a glance at the thread, it looks average. not sure how much more prices will rise, but they certainly aren't ever coming back down.

Crikeyalmighty · 30/09/2024 23:02

Around £125 a week for 2 but mainly Waitrose and M&sand a little bit of Sainsbury's - with a couple of bottles of £12 wine

ivykaty44 · 03/10/2024 05:02

I normally shop for one as daughter buys her own food. I spend £50 a week. I presently have 2 students and have to give them breakfast and evening meal - I’m spending £80 a weekly

they are eating spaghetti big homemade, shepherds pie, fake chicken Nando’s, roast dinner, pizza, fish and chips. Breakfast is frozen croissants, toast, ham cheese and whole fruit choice

ivykaty44 · 03/10/2024 05:04

I’m shopping in Lidl & the shopping last week came in at £81 and did include a bottle of white wine as we had guests for Sunday roast

AuntieMarys · 03/10/2024 05:14

About £120 for 2 adults. We don't eat much meat and when we do it's good meat. Dh takes a packed lunch daily. Lots of fruit and veg, no processed food or chocolate, biscuits etc. We cook everything from scratch.

FindingMeno · 03/10/2024 05:41

I keep trying to reduce it but it stubbornly remains at about £170 a week for 4 adults and a dog, including basic toiletries and all cleaning supplies.
We eat 'proper' but simple food.

Scottishskifun · 03/10/2024 05:51

Between £90 and £110 typically online sainsburys shop with a £20 top up of bread and milk.

I find I spend way less doing it online (just load previous order and edit) then going into shops.
That's for 2 adults and 2 children- 1 has 2 snacks a day packed for school.

I was around the £150 Mark but brought it down by cooking larger meat joints and changing what I made so pork loin is pretty cheap and quick to cook. A whole chicken does 3 dinners etc.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 03/10/2024 06:03

About £100 for 2 adults and 2 children.
We shop at Aldi, meal plan and only buy what we need / what we'll use (no waste). Prices have definitely gone up but I think we do pretty well.

Itiswhatitis80 · 03/10/2024 06:10

It used to be £120 2 adults 2 kids,now it’s £190 a week.
