Career Advice

Hi all,

I am hoping for a bit of advice. I became a single parent to a toddler at the beginning of the year. I'd been with my ex for a very long time and put my career on hold to accommodate the majority of childcare however I now want to step it up and increase my earnings so that I am more financially stable and secure, as well as so my child can have a good example.

I have worked in my current role for around 5 years and I work full time. I'm an executive assistant within the hair and beauty industry but my background includes management roles as well as personal assistant work and admin. This industry is extremely underpaid although I am lucky as I mostly WFH and it's very flexible which is great when you have a little kid.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on other job roles/industries that I could transfer my skill set to. Or just any advice about this kind of thing in general.

Thank you so much in advance x

Have a look at the civil service, there will be roles that will require your kind of skillset, will likely be quite flexible, and whilst it might not pay well immediately it does have an excellent pension and will open up lots of paths for progression.
