Car insurance increase?

I own a 2015 Mini ONE hatchback. I passed my test in March 2022 and got insured the following month. I am 24 years old now and have had no accidents or claims but for some reason my insurance renewal quote has gone up by nearly £2000. When I first started driving, my insurance for that year was £1500, the following year was £1300 but now I am getting quotes of around £3000. The lowest being £2700 with a black box. I don't currently have a black box.

Is there a reason for this?

I was hoping to get a bigger car in a few years aswell as I need the room but is it worth just keeping this one for longer?

Mine jumped up this year. I'm old and have a lot of ncb so is a lot less than yours. But still up 50% from last year

Driving 17 years. No claims, no points. Same car, same address, same miles, same job.

last year: £540
this year: £1200

No idea why so expensive but searched for ages for cheaper. I refuse at 37 to have a black box which is only way it would be cheaper!

Oh you're joking! I love having the freedom to drive and was so excited for insurance to be the one cost in life that goes down each year but clearly not haha

There has been loads of publicity about the increase in car insurance costs, have you googled?

I guess it's lack of driving experience rather than your age.

What results do you get if you shop around?

Don't forget some big companies are not on comparison sites.

What about a broker like Flux who specialise in younger drivers?

I've just renewed mine. I have 15 years no claims and 1 speeding ticket that's due to be gone in 6 months.
Last year I paid £48/month. This year, it's £90/month!!!!!

My car insurance has nore than quadrupled over the past two years.
There has been an increase in car thefts in cities so car insurers are using that as a reason to increase the premiums.

@sylvanianflower it’s not a cost of living bandwagon though, it’s a reality for insurers. They pay our claims. The cost of car repairs has gone up. Global warming means more UK flooding. If a third party is severely injured in a collision, the cost of care for them for the next 40 years will be pencilled in as far higher than it used to be. Inflation impacts insurance more than practically any other product. Just a reality, unfortunately.

I've been driving for 20 years with no claims and still my car insurance has soared this year. The insurance company blamed price of car parts? / covid/ number of claims. I think its throughout the industry.

Been driving 20 odd years, my car insurance has gone up quite a lot this year and also found that last years insurer wasn’t even interested in negotiating the price when I said I’d found cheaper than their renewal. Ended up with a new insurer but still more expensive than the last few years.

Last year £167 this year £137 - annual, fully-comp, I.8 mazda mx5 No idea why mine is so low. I even got £30 off through Top Cashback so my annual insurance has cost me about £100 😱

Mind you, the tax - that's a whole other story 😂
