Home alone tonight and fancied a takeaway for tea

DH and I are moving house soon. We're cutting back as have bought (buying) a house more expensive than we planned. Much better area though.

So tonight dh is at work and I fancied a Chinese. Possibly chow mein. But then I thought that's about 7 or 8 pound. I have noodles in the house and loads of ingredients what can I make?

Came across this recipe and just made it. We had everything in. I did mushroom but you can use anything. I also added green pepper.

Do you have a takeaway substitute aka fakeaway?

I halved the amount and there was still a big portion.

I'm desperate for a takeaway as I have PMS cravings but I'm not spending their ridiculous prices. Not sure what my fakeaway will be for tonight but I'm SO HUNGRY.

We made burritos this evening. Used pork mince (not my favourite but it was a lot cheaper than beef).

They were really nice. Just made normal chilli con carne and put it in wraps with salad and cheese. Didn't bother with rice.

If I've got cooked rice in the fridge or freezer, I like to make egg fried rice. As long as I've got an egg and hopefully some spring onion (chopped in the freezer) I'm sorted. Bonus if I've got mushrooms, peas etc I can add, but the beauty of it is that if I don't feel like bothering, it's minimum effort.

I like the Hairy Bikers sweet and sour chicken recipe. It's really easy and gets my sweet and sour craving satisfied!

My cba tea is nice breaded chicken in a wrap with lettuce, sour cream and salsa.

It was thanks. I forgot to garnish it. Also I think crushed peanuts would be nice on it.

I make my own egg fried rice at home, I
always have sesame oil,
soya sauce,
spring onions at home.

Then I buy tempura chicken and sweet and sour sauce from Aldi

Deep fry some Kale and sprinke sugar through it for "sea weed".

It’s very easy to make ramen eggs (marinated in soy sauce), add a couple with spring onions, kimchi, sweetcorn, mushrooms, any thinly sliced meat or tofu and have a good version of ramen noodles.

We always have a pack of Aldi onion bahjis / spring rolls in the freezer as that makes a bog standard home cook feel more like a takeaway for me. Bonus points for prawn crackers and poppadoms!

We can recreate Wagamamas Cha Han at a lower cost, about 10 quid for three massive portions which isn't cheapy cheap but cheaper than the restaurant and as it's a kid dish there like I say we have adult sized portions instead. It's the recipe from the wagamamas recipe book but with no prawns and added grated carrot (I can't eat seafood and the chicken is sufficient protein). Soy sauce, Worcester sauce and marmalade make a cheaty "Yakitori" marinade for the chicken which must be cut into super thin strips.

Yes I need to get proper ramen noodles in.

I had fake Big Macs. Just frozen burgers, burger sauce and lettuce. Super nice and cheaper!
