Martin Lewis saying it's no brainer. You can be an existing customer or not.
Price cap reduces by 15% April to July.
Obviously no knowledge yet if what winter price cap will be.

@MrsHGWells

So here's the best rate for now which you go into if you switch and then they change you to a tracker when the smart meter is sorted.

I already have one from eon so assume it won't take too long?

But if you could still do a search like you did with the Exeter postcode but with TQ7 that would be great as I can't find out on their site what it could be for me.

Thanks

ah, after much searching, I found I do already have a £75 exit fee until August. So not much point searching further, I'm sure the savings won't equal that anyway! Must remind myself to have another look then.

@SomethingDifferentt a question about the Tracker from Octopus. We’ve just been switched to Octopus as they bought out Shell. Looking at their website regarding the Tracker it says it’s going to be going fixed as it doesn’t really work with the price caps. Am I getting confused with the products being offered?

From what I've gathered you only see the fixed rate on their website and have to apply for the tracker.
I couldn't see the info for the tracker on there either.

@NotSorry when I joined Tracker it was just open ended. So I was put on the tracker tariff with no end date.

They've recently (this month) changed Tracker so it's a fixed term tariff for 12 months. So the term is fixed for a year at a time...but the prices within that tariff will still change every day.

If you join Tracker you can sign up to a Telegram bot to send you the prices for the next day...these are my most recent.

Great, thanks - that makes sense. I’ll get DH to give them a call

@SomethingDifferentt

It's been a while but I thought I'd update you as you were so helpful. So it took ages for Octopus to sort our account out and we had various smart meter problems. Anyway, we finally got everything sorted and have now swapped to the tracker and I've signed up to the Telegram bot as you suggested. DH is busily making me a spreadsheet to track daily prices/savings, as we speak 😁

I'm probably on the same fix, it's worth checking your contract as in mine,they don't charge the exit fee in the last 60 days of the contract, meaning we can switch in June without penalty.
