Payday today thank goodness so have thrown a chunk at house debts, as well as the usual bills etc. Freezer list done and hoping to live out of that until at least the middle of next week, may be some random combinations 🤣!
Thankfully some decent weather for a few days so I can wash all bedding etc and not use the dryer dryer, getting things dried recently indoors has been a real challenge.......
I've given myself 12 months to pay off the smaller higher-interest debt, and then combine all of those payments into overpayments for the bigger loan which was for the original refurbishment. In theory it should then only be another year or so before it's all gone, and then onto the next thing!!! Unless the Euromillions goes my way this evening 🤣

RumBananaSundae · 25/06/2024 16:23

Have spent £2.18 on cottage cheese. The weather threw out my cupboard eating plans for tomorrow and Thursday so I also got TGTG (£7.49). Picking up later so hoping it’s got at least two meals worth.

Will try to suppress the spending until next week. My £10 notes are King Charles notes so I’m hoping they will be novelty enough for me to not want to spend them for a few days.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/06/2024 09:44

Hi all, fell off the thread again 🙈

We're on holiday in Devon, the weathers beautiful so I'm feeling very lucky!

Ive not been very frugal but am avoiding cooking in the caravan as it's my holiday as well! Plus it's payday tomorrow and there's still money in the account <faints>

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/06/2024 09:46

Donkeysdontdance · 22/06/2024 21:56

Just 3 ice creams today£9. Including one for the dog. 🐶🐶🐶

😂 we debated getting the dog an ice cream Ystd, he doesn't like the ones made for dogs but I reckon a proper clotted cream one would go down a treat 😋😂

Nellieinthebarn · 26/06/2024 14:24

£22 on an ugly but very comfortable bra from M&S. Payday on Monday still got a bit in the account, fingers crossed it will still be there on Sunday night.

workworkwork123 · 26/06/2024 19:25

Can anyone recommend some decent but bargain containers for batch cooking please

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/06/2024 20:06

The little milka ones our dogs live over doggy Ice cream
happy holidays

i can say re tubs that cheap is a false economy. All the plastic ones are dyed by pasta. I go back to the Lakeland stackable ones 400ml is about a portion here
also lock n lock
I’ve heard good about lidded glass ones from Pyrex and Ikea but that would be broken here

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/06/2024 20:07

very non frugal couple of days in London.
for the crafty bunch angel’s costume tour is excellent

Chile1978 · 26/06/2024 20:19

@work agree with life, sistema and lakeland here. All the others seem to break.
Love the idea of glass ones but too heavy when commuting around London.
@nellie need some new bras too - current ones are digging in. But hoping maybe to find some on vinted bnwt.

Budget has gone a bit awry! Thought I'd clawed it back, and then the football and socialising has thrown it right out.
Sorry for not keeping up, lack of sleep is incredibly tiring! 😴

Birthday preparation continues. Think have got just about everything now except some decorations and dd1 cake.

Frugajobs:
Can't remember if I said it before but santander 185 came through - donated it to charity.
Need to ring Nationwide to confirm mop came through - bank switches cleared the saved details I was using
Can't wait for a clean slate as of Friday.

Chile1978 · 26/06/2024 20:27

And £480 out of £1500 target for dds' savings

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2024 10:42

Oh yes seistema as well

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/06/2024 18:51

110 food shop
-49 jd refund
&425 selling a bike

Chile1978 · 29/06/2024 06:45

@life good sale 💰

Off to London for the NSM today. Still getting minimal sleep so tired but it will be worth it. Haven't made any food, but will probably buy a meal deal which is at least cheaper than the museum cafe.

Frugajobs:
Payday yday and money moved.
Cc1 - 0! (Balance has been put into savings 1160 - going to try 6months of stoozing)
Additional money put into general savings pot to replenish from bday party spend. Once all spending is done, I will calculate and then create a new bday party pot.
£102 spent on plants - a few were on sale so probably saved around £20. The slugs have been horrendous this year so sadly most of these are replacements.
£2k (+92 interest) in a fixed saver due to end this month but cant seem to find out exact date. £500 to go into LISA for OH, and the rest probably into SIPP.
Now to concentrate on long term savings.

workworkwork123 · 29/06/2024 09:10

Thank you for the recommendations going to have a look online today see if I can get any sistema containers on offer so this week I can double up on portions and get the freezer backed up. I'm finding that's a massive hurdle busy life with kids then not having time to cook because of activity's so grab a take out

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/06/2024 09:18

Morning all, we're back from a lovely little holiday in Devon, we were so lucky with the weather which was perfect.

I totted up how much I'd spent last night and was a bit shocked as it was over £300 (we only went Mon-Fri!) Most of that was on food as I didn't want to cook, also did a couple of day trips and given even a couple of ice creams is £8 it soon adds up.

Oh well it was a good trip and nice to spend some quality time with dd.

Will be a bit more sensible rest of the month though!

Happierwithouthim · 29/06/2024 14:02

Good afternoon everyone
I'm also back from holidays.
I converted €1k to $ and have $222.96 left there on my revolut
I also took out $500 in cash & I've $40 left there so spent about $1250. Considering Empire State Building visit cost $200 and a meal in a Benihana Restaurant cost $208, I think I did ok.

Yesterdays spends
€100 kennels
€30 neighbours child for feeding cats
€5.05 on milk & bread

Todays spends
€5.50 dump
€44 diesel
€92.39 including a under seat luggage backpack which was €30

Lodged €400 cheques to my account, €300 on which is replenishing my emergency fund, I'm going to aim to bring that to €500 as a goal.
I've got Christmas club at work & leaving there beginning of august so I renamed my New York vault on revolut & set up an recurring transfer for Christmas for when I get paid at new job.

I think £300 for a week is fair enough to treat yourself and DD girlie. Well done for coming home with spare money happier! We go away on Friday, I’m not sure I’ve budgeted enough spends 😬

also realised insurance and GHIc card are in DD’s old name not the new one (changed by deed poll). Hopefully I have time to sort this with insurance but not sure about GHIC.

Timetoswitch · 30/06/2024 03:14

Fallen off the thread again. Dmum had a fall, spent a day in hospital and has struggled since returning home. She seems to be on the mend, but it has thrown up quite a lot of things which she is struggling with.

Anyway, I’m not sleeping well. It’s quite hot overnight and once I wake up due to that, my brain is just too busy with all the things to sort 😩

The last few weeks have been quite unfrugal. There may have been some clothes bought at 3am one morning when I couldn’t sleep. And Amazon seem to be getting rather a lot of ££s too, mainly due to the convenience as we’ve been very short on time.

I got £200 in from doing a bank switch.

I hope everyone enjoyed their recent holidays or is looking forward to their upcoming ones!

RumBananaSundae · 30/06/2024 07:39

I’ve fallen off again. Adulting is not fun.

Devon sounds a treat Girlie. It’s nice to do things you wouldn’t usually do when you’re away.

Crikey on the Empire State Building Happier. Hope you had a good break.

Sorry about your mother Time. And your poor brain.

Frugality has taken a hit here. I’ve been spending on things to get through the day. Most of it has gone to TGTG (three boxes of cupcakes in three days) and I’ve bought two pairs of summer trousers in Marks and Spencer.

Think holiday shopping is just about done. Still need underwear. Have hurt my back so have spent most of Friday and yesterday lying on the sofa. Have been to the gym and that’s made it worse but my poor head needed settling. Crossing my fingers all is well by next week.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/06/2024 08:41

Our ghic came quick so apply today and you might be lucky

sounds like very sensible holiday spends both and oof at ESB entry.

sorry to hear about family stresses it’s hard to be frugal. Sometimes something has to give

no other spends this weekend

Chile1978 · 30/06/2024 11:45

@Happierwithouthim esb visit! 😲 was it wonderful though? NYC is on my bucket list.
@Girliefriendlikespuppies glad you had a good time
@marthasmum ghic should come through quickly
@workworkwork123 I often get a few ready made things for the freezer - still cheaper than a takeaway. I like cook meals but there are cheaper options.
@Timetoswitch sorry about dmum 💐
@RumBananaSundae Back pain is no fun. Cupcakes are medicinal I'm sure 😋

Lovely day yesterday. Spent £30 out on icecreams and picnic, and then £15 on way home for easy supper - ready meal lasagne (saving £15 on takeaway pizza)
More gardening today (and a trip to the garden centre) And multiple trips to the tip - one done already. Have had horrid luck with bulbs thanks to the slugs 🐌 so 2 big planters have had to be redug. Need to cover over the veg beds as well😩 . Time and weather got the better of us this year.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/06/2024 14:16

I spent £130 in Aldi Ystd, first big shop in a while and included wine and a few extra bits.

Today I spent £23 in Boots on toiletries and £6 on various cards.

£20 in the garden shop.

workworkwork123 · 30/06/2024 18:03

@Chile1978 one of my DC has an allergy so it's so difficult to find something we can all have that's why when it's busy and I get caught out we end up with the one take away that safe for us all and it's never cheap!

I took the DC out today £6 Ice creams £2 train ride and then £3 parking so not to bad. I do have an Amazon basket I need to complete with some containers and reusable ice lolly moulds but the tube type which I'm hoping will be useful and save me money over the summer hols

Nellieinthebarn · 30/06/2024 18:42

NS weekend, dinners from what we had in stock, and £180 into the savings pot. Not a bad month all in, some savings, some treats.

Having a couple of days away next week, DH has a medical appointment down South, and we are also having a couple of days visiting family. So that is next months treat budget already accounted for.

Glad holidays were successful @Happierwithouthim and @Girliefriendlikespuppies and you have to have treats and experiences on holiday or its a bit grim and pointless.

@Timetoswitch sorry about your DMs fall, hope she is on the mend soon.

Happierwithouthim · 30/06/2024 20:09

It was wonderful to see how delighted bf was with it, he really wanted to go there even though he's been before & I bought the tickets to go to 102nd floor which he hadn't been to. We thought we didn't have time but we did & fitted loads into our last night, late breakfast, gift shop shopping mainly for dc, checkout, bike ride in Central Park, row boat on lake in Central Park & Empire State Building.

€4 rashers
€2.40 can of rubicon haven't had before thought it was nice & maybe less harmful than monster Grin
€5.98 readymade soup

Nellie no spend weekends are impressive

Balance of €1200 for Airbnb for family get together came out of my account.
Paid €1k contribution to tarring of our boreen
July is my last month being paid weekly
