We haven't sorted out a holiday either @Girliefriendlikespuppies Cornwall is lovely

@needastrongoneagain thank you. Honestly very much looking forward to this month being over. Yellow stickers are the best! I never usually get anyway but must have hit the right time.

@RumBananaSundae 4million on the alps and cheese sont parfaits! I'd get a super stinky chaource 👃.

@Pigtailsandall family abroad does always add some complications. Good luck on your savings.

Looking forward to an early bed and not turning on the laptop! Lots of weeding today so my back has had enough.

needastrongoneagain · 28/04/2024 07:08

The Greggs TGTG bags are usually pretty good @RumBananaSundae. Hope yours was.

Nice tattoo @ememem84

I remember soft play @Pigtailsandall , and not fondly....🙃

£4 drink for DH at the cricket club
£8 local shop as stupidly forgot sugar, washing powder and detergent in the online delivery.

Should be a NSD.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/04/2024 07:31

Nice tatt em

soft play is the seventh circle of hell.

No holiday sorted here. Except for kennels.

went out for tea last night £36 after voucher.

ememem84 · 28/04/2024 07:57

Another one who agrees soft play is hell. Sadly my dc are still into it.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 28/04/2024 08:29

That looks amazing em you're very brave!

Ystd I spent £130 in Morrisons, that includes lots of summer bedding plants, massive box of washing powder, a new blender and lots of other non food type things I've needed for ages (and some food!)

Also £10 on a big fat balls bucket as the birds are eating loads at the moment.

I gave dd £35 to cover bus tickets and dinner on her college trip.

Dd is looking at getting a second hand Citroen C1, anyone had any experience with them?

grannycake · 28/04/2024 09:25

I had a C1 when I first passed my test & i loved it. However it developed a leak in the floor so there were puddles of water round my feet. Apparently a common problem so I changed to a Citigo. Which was my favourite car ever

needastrongoneagain · 28/04/2024 10:12

I'd check the previous insurance status of any second hand car, whatever make and model, to see if it's been involved in any accidents or was a write off etc.

Happierwithouthim · 28/04/2024 10:28

Sadly my pot didn't cover my garage bill because he put two tyres on, I don't buy my tyres from him so I'm a bit annoyed but I looked back on my YNAB & it was 16 months since I bought some so they were needed.
€460, €240 of that was tyres, so I did have service covered. There's my overtime from last week gone & then some. But not on credit card Smile

€30 on theatre voucher for an 80th birthday
€5 on cards
€7 at farmers market stall cardamon bun & a sourdough loaf
€2.95 milk
€4.50 rashers
€2.80 stamps

Will catch up with other posts later

I don't mind softplay - it's indoors even if it does have a slight whiff of eau de feet. 👟
For dd2, I think I will be standing on a windswept field, no doubt at 8am on Sunday mornings 🤣 ⚽🏈

@Girliefriendlikespuppies dsis had one secondhand and the engine went in less than 2yrs and ended up selling it for £50. I'll be fair though, she's a terrible driver so it could have been her fault. Heard better things about the vw up. I know it's not the dream car for a teenager but a Honda jazz is a solid option.

Birthday party yesterday so taking it a bit quieter today. Will be popping to the big orange shed later but hoping less than £10. Wet and windy so have given up on the weeding for now.

Ins
£1 selling
£3 refund of phone credit
£5 (to come from train delay)

Chile1978 · 29/04/2024 09:32

Big orange shed was a bust - not in store so had to order online. Worth a trip anyway to have a look at some of the trellis.

My early day today so need to do some listing this afternoon. And second frugaleer job of haggling on my broadband.

Spends
£38 diy (used a voucher)

Ins
£4 selling

Happierwithouthim · 29/04/2024 13:50

Not a fan of soft play at all, endured it while dc needed to be accompanied to birthday parties when they were younger and was delighted when they could be dropped and collected.

Met a friend recently at one and she said she spends a lot of time in them, her dc are younger than mine, met a neighbour home from England too so it was a positive experience for once!

Collected my click & collect yesterday €48.19, noticed beef mince that I buy to make food for ddog and dcats has gone up from €2 to €2.29, I need less now that one dcat has gone on the missing list. Got Fibre One bars for ds on special offer as he says the aldi ones aren't great. In aldi they're €2.29 for 5, on offer it's €2.50 for 5. I didn't buy meat or fish for dinner, so might do that tomorrow eve at a local butchers.

Got takeaway yesterday eve €8, quality was poor so I won't be visiting again. I like to support now and again because I like the guy and it's local.

That's a shame @Happierwithouthim

Frugal jobs today: hung washing outside for the first time this year
Listed 3 items
Sold big bundle - over 50 individual items gone
Bought secondhand school uniform from school mum
Tried to get deal on broadband (only got offered 70p less than current per month so will need to move)

Spends
£11 school uniform

Ins
£20 selling

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/04/2024 18:59

Thanks for the thoughts on the car, she's on a budget of around 3k so locally options are fairly limited. I did read they were prone to leaks granny! My Aygo did the same, I wonder if it's a small car thing. Dds going to look at it tomorrow and see what she thinks. Apparently Toyota make the engines for these cars which is reassuring as usually Toyotas are very reliable.

Her insurance quotes a nuts so far, over £2k 😳😳😳

Ystd I spent £25 on some new sandals for a wedding we're going to soon, they're only cheap ones but they look nice (I think 😂) plus I'm wearing a long dress so you won't see them much.

Also spent £15 on stuff for the garden, just need some sun now!

£8 on some bits for a friend who is recovering from an op (magazines and biscuits!)

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/04/2024 08:43

Pay day. Thank fook

Happierwithouthim · 30/04/2024 09:29

€9.50 on takeaway using €7 off Just Eat voucher, had to get a diet coke at €2.50 to get to minimum spend of €14.

I was at a meeting last night from 6-9pm, hadn't eaten since 1pm lunch was ravenous! We had a presentation and it went well.

I will get to butchers this evening and all will be right in my world again Smile
€5 dd school trip
ds's school tour is coming up next month, no costings yet.
girlie first lot of car insurance is eye watering alright, do ye have companies like it's for women or young drivers policies, sometimes they put a tracker or speed limiter on the car and this reduces the premium.

RumBananaSundae · 30/04/2024 12:49

I laughed at regrets for your life choices em. I often have those.

The TGTG bag was good need. There was so much in it. A sandwich, four boxes of doughnuts, some pastries and some muffins. The best value so far I think.

Spent a further £1.30 on milk to have with my Greggs. Sunday was 75p on some spaghetti. Yesterday and today have been no spend. I went to Marks this morning and they had the dip I wanted yellow stickered but I decided I’d rather have spaghetti so didn’t buy it. Might have buy it at the Bank Holiday. With something curried.

Was moping as my perfume has nearly finished and buying a new bottle is over £100. Was looking for a new packet of floss and found four unopened bottles and a box of handbag refills. Most relieved. Am sure that means the sky will fall on my head tomorrow.

Happierwithouthim · 30/04/2024 14:57

Just got my first speeding ticket, €160 and 3 penalty points Sad

RumBananaSundae · 30/04/2024 16:10

Blimey Happier - that’s harsh.

Happierwithouthim · 30/04/2024 16:43

It used to be €80 and 2 penalty points, but I never got caught then Hmm

needastrongoneagain · 30/04/2024 17:00

Ouch, @Happierwithouthim!

Nice work selling that bundle @Chile1978

I think if you are named driver on the car it can bring the cost down of the insurance @Girliefriendlikespuppies

Hooray for payday @Girliefriendlikespuppies

They have always done great TGTG bags here too have Greggs @RumBananaSundae

NSD Monday.
£48 shopping at M&S. Our treat food 😁

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 30/04/2024 19:59

Is there an app for the too good to go bags?

Dd put a deposit down on the car, it looks like an ideal first car tbh, it's 2010 plate but has only done £50000 miles! Sorted insurance, £1400 😳 dd paid out of her trust fund money. So car plus insurance is around £5k which doesn't seem too bad really.

Still can't believe I have a child old enough to drive though 🤯😂

NSD for me!

Happierwithouthim · 30/04/2024 20:39

Yes girlie there's an app & you put down your location & bags in your area will be added each day

Congrats to your dd it's very exciting & ye got the insurance down to a much more reasonable amount too.

€6.57 on stirfry & some steak mince for me
€6.55 on crap for all of us, TOM must be on its way!

Timetoswitch · 30/04/2024 21:57

Oh no on the ticket happier

Did you find 4 bottles of the nice £100 perfume rum then? That’s the kind of thing I’d do, buy, stash away and forget about it.

We reviewed the budget spreadsheet at the weekend. Ok on current salaries, not so if salaries drop or no job which is a current worry.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/05/2024 05:28

Ouch happier.

yeah on the car girlie

sorry about the salary worries time

Chile1978 · 01/05/2024 07:36

Exciting for the car @Girliefriendlikespuppies that's a big step to independence 🚗

Excellent find @RumBananaSundae

There are a few items that I only buy at m&s @needastrongoneagain . They do some items which are 👌

@Timetoswitch I don't know if it helps but I would think the overwhelming majority of people are in the same boat. Do you have critical illness insurance? That may ease some of your worries.

Payday!!! Moved money around - very satisfying.
