Pls can anyone tell me how best to ask for my UC to be backdated? Payment due tomorrow and I am wondering if a note on my journal on my account would do or I have to call the UC number.

I'd call them. It's always easier to explain exactly what you need over the phone than by message.
They'll ask you your reasoning as to why you need it backdated though. So make sure you have a specific reason to tell them x

I had single claim and changed to joint claim last week when I reported change of circumstances which I should have reported say around September but could not for medical reasons and ill

Joint claim is now a smaller amount than my single claim.

It is not worth asking for back dating is it?

For instance my single claim was ÂŁ600
Now joint claim is ÂŁ400 (1st pay due tomorrow)

Does it make sense to ask for a back date? Partner is saying since my single claim is more than joint claim, it does not make sense but then I know they say this joint claim is now a new claim all together right?

I hope I can get some help here because getting a back dated payment would really help us here. Thanks

Wow! I reckon that will be them taking things off of their own workload..
at least you know what to do now!

Surely if you backdate you'll end up owing them money?

You should have reported as soon as you were able to. If you report now you will end up with an overpayment at best. It will be less for a joint claim as presumably he has earnings which are now being deducted and reducing your claim?

You’ll end up owing them money.
