Hello everyone I only recently joined UC after splitting with my husband.

This was my first assessment period/payment. I've been told I should have received the last cost of living payment but was perhaps missed as I just signed up. I've put it on my journal and asked but no answer after two days. I will be receiving the one this month as I got a text message but would really like to know if I should have been paid the previous one and if I was will I get it or is it too late? Would really help me with the last bit of money needed for a deposit/first months rent so keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Just fill in the form on gov.uk and they will check it.

My understanding is that you should have received it as the assessment period for that payment was 13th November to 12th December.
You should report it missing on the relevant government website:

Are you sure that was the assessment period for the last one? I'm sure the payment was before those dates?

@Terfosaurus on the government website for cost of living payment it says:

Was I entitled to a previous cost of living payment
Terfosaurus · 31/01/2024 16:36

That's the assessment dates for the Feb payment.

Lougle · 31/01/2024 16:44

@Anonjd3 No, you weren't eligible. The last £300 COL payment was paid between 31 October and 19th November 2023 but you had to be eligible between 18th August and 17th September 2023. Your first assessment period wasn't until 25th October 2023.

Hwory · 31/01/2024 16:45

The second cost of living payment (paid in October) qualifying period was 18 August 2023 to 17 September 2023. If you uc claim didn’t start until October you’re only entitled to the February one.

If you applied on the 10th, your assessment period would run from the 10th. Why is it the 26th?

Olika · 31/01/2024 16:46

@Terfosaurus oh yes that's true I got confused and realised it after going through the table they have at the bottom. The assessment period for £300 payment was 18 August 2023 to 17 September 2023.

Olika · 31/01/2024 16:48

So @Anonjd3 you are not entitled to the payment as your assessment period was well later.
