To ask what the amount is on your smart metre right now?

I haven't braved putting the heating on yet because even without the heating on we are spending £20-30 a week on the gas and electric. It's Wednesday today and we have already spent £9.25! I very rarely use the cooker as it is gas. I've swapped to a heated airer instead of the tumble dryer so where is it all going?? So to ask how much you've spent already this week?

Is that just electricity?

What have you got switched on right now?

RedRiverShore4 · 08/11/2023 12:37

Is that from Sunday or Monday

Jingle23 · 08/11/2023 12:43

That's from Monday and it's both gas and electric. The only thing I have on right now is the airer.

If the only thing on now is the airer then that may be the culprit. What does its rating plate say it's power consumption (watts/kilowatts) to be?

Can you set the display to show 'live' usage so you can see how it goes up/down with appliances going on/off?

Drayne · 08/11/2023 12:57

Mine is reading £13 so far this week. But the house has electric heating.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 08/11/2023 13:06

I don't have settings quite like that but on my app we use £4-7 a day combined. We have been putting the heating on as tbh I refuse to be cold (we layer up first tho!) My DD26 is disabled at home all day too.
So on a high week we would use £49 and on a low week £28.
As you can see fir the last full year we used £5.17 per day if you add up the 2 total amounts.
Yours does seem high if no heating?

£8.86

BettyBakesCakes · 08/11/2023 13:24

Ours is at £7.53 atm for both.

Heating on for 1hr 20 in the morning and 40 mins in the evening (but hasn't been coming on in the evening this week).

We cook using the airfryer or gas hob most days.

We have a heat pump dryer but that's only been used once for an Hr so far this week.

We have a dehumidifier on almost all day though.

5 in our family, 3 of us at home most of the time and dh wfh 2 days a week.

Happyinheels · 08/11/2023 14:20

Yikes. Made me look at my usage for the week and this is it. The heating has been on here and there. I do work from home as a childminder so have to have the house warm.

Sorry just realised that's for last week but even so 😩

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/11/2023 14:24

So £5 a day isn is £150 a month

Doesn't seem too bad

We don't have a smart meter but our monthly bills are around 200 at the moment now using heating a little bit

Marmite27 · 08/11/2023 14:24

Similar to happy in heels. More electric here than gas though - that’s the dehumidifier this time of year, but it’s miserably damp without it.

cocksstrideintheevening · 08/11/2023 14:37

We're on about £7 a day average with gas ch which has been on a though low because it's not that cold just damp

Jingle23 · 08/11/2023 19:47

£4.14 up to now today. The big spend is electric so I'm going to put it down to the airer.

It is far cheaper to cook with gas than electricity. Why are you not doing that?

I have a 5 bed semi house and have used £4.50 in gas and electricity today. But only had the heating on upstairs for 30 mins and downstairs is cold.

alwaysmovingforwards · 08/11/2023 20:14

About £10/day at the mo.
Will go up to nearer £20/day when it gets colder.
Drops again to about £5/day in summer.

MissRainbowBrite · 08/11/2023 20:22

Ours averages around £3.50-£4.50 a day in the summer at the moment it's sitting at £6ish a day and goes upto £7-£8 a day when it's really cold or on a weekend.

Lalanbaba · 08/11/2023 20:34

Is your tariff in the reader up to date?

Im 99% sure thats just your elec cost. If you push the button on the IHD it will show you gas on its own and then will show both combined
