EON customers - 25% discounted tariff for low income households

Had an email today stating that as I had previously received the Warm Home Discount I was eligible for a 25% discounted tariff between October 1st and April 2023.

Unfortunately it's not automatic or backdated and only applies from when you switch the tariff manually. I've already missed a month and don't want anyone else to do the same.

So hardly an incentive to take on extra hours and increase one's income ! And if some households are paying 25% less, if EON are to maintain their profits, other customers will pay more. I certainly won't be switching to EON.

Nope if you're not eligible for this offer they have a tariff that is like guaranteed £50 under the cap or something like that.

Have you heard of disabled people?

I would love to be in a position to that ,but I have one of those full on jobs where I am on call 24/7, often work night shifts, supervise constantly, not allowed a day off sick, never get a break and my wage is just £300 a month.

I saw this for my mum, but be aware that you have to commit to a smart meter. Many are happy to do so, but many are still sceptical.

Most of the energy companies will be doing something similar. They have no choice, the others can't be seen not to offer support to low income households if EON are.

Probably because there are people out there spreading absolute nonsense about smart meters.

why do you think that everyone has the option of increasing their hours or easily increasing their income. People with young kids, disabled people etc.

The answer is nor people to work more and more hours. we should be aiming for a society where people can work their 40 hours a week a live a comfortable and happy life.
