Can anyone help? Dd1 is in receipt of low rate PIP and UC. She lives at home and doesn't go out independently due to autism and anxiety. She received a letter this morning saying she is getting a £150 warm home discount from DWP which will be paid directly to the energy company. This is great because she is home 24/7 and uses a lot of energy. The only problem is the energy account is in my name (same surname) . It's Eon next. This means she won't get it doesn't it? Is there anything we can do?

Not been in this circumstance however last year they forgot to pay mine so I spoke to the fuel supplier who were very helpful and gave me the details of how to contact the government department (I forget who it was) that were dealing with the payments and they then linked my account with the government department. Might be worth a try.
I think you have to be named (but could you add her to your bill)?

I live with my dad, account in his name but i'm the one on ESA and PIP.
It shows up as a credit in his electricity account, and has done ever since we first got it when it was by application, still went in fine last year when it was automated.

The criteria changed, it's not just about certain benefits but the amount of energy you use being high and the condition of your home not being energy efficient

Thanks for the replies. Our home is old and draughty and has a poor energy rating. The letter says she is entitled and it will go straight onto the energy account, it's just not in her name. Interesting to hear that yours went onto your dad's account...that gives us hope!

I came on here to ask the same question, I've had the letter today to say I'm eligible but I live with my mum and the electric bill is under her name. I'm going to give the number on the letter a call Tuesday when I'm off work so I'm more than happy to let you know what they say, I'm hoping it will just go on address 😊 x

I checked my online energy account yesterday and the 150 has gone inSmile. Yours should hopefully too!
