next gift card

Next catalogue, been using them online for years. Been getting my daughter a birthday & Christmas Next gift card for several years through my Next credit account. Put the birthday one in the basket last April & was told i couldn't do it through my account , they wanted me to pay by my own card. Messaged Next asked why they stopped it. Reply, 'We have never allowed gift cards to be paid for through customers credit accounts , people use them to pay their Next bill', (whats wrong with that they're still getting their money). I said i had been buying cards through my credit account for several years , twice a year ,,they said no, we've never allowed it. Oh well, maybe i was dreaming it, my daughter showed me what she had bought with the last Xmas gift card from Next that i paid for through my credit account , maybe i'm going loopy. Anyone else that has paid for Next gift cards through their Next credit account ?

They stopped it a couple of years ago as people were buying gift cards on credit, spending them and not paying their account.

You can use a Next gift card to pay an account balance if I remember correctly. But yes whenever I have purchased a card it's needed to be paid up front, it does weird things to my account though, I remember it showed as a a purchase on my statement for a while, can't remember if I had to call to get it removed or if it just dropped off.
