Want to put heating on already 😔

It's still September and I want the heating on already! We always try to not put it on until October, hopefully October half term but it's already a bit chilly 😕

Already got a jumper on. Have an electric throw I can use if I'm settled on the couch but it's walking around that I'm cold.

For disclosure I am a bit ill so that probably isn't helping! Room temp apparently 18 but I think that's wrong with himdidity of 60-70 (old damp house)

We can't really afford to put it on as we need to make sure we don't use up our credit already. We need to get it back after winter really so trying not to go over our monthly direct debit. Uurgh!

Had to put mine on - also have my heated blanket on and a hoodie. Going for a bath to heat my core up - that's always best option.

onestepfromgrace · 28/09/2023 18:59

I’ve had mine on for the odd hour to take the chill off.

NonMiDispiace · 28/09/2023 19:00

Mine’s on, thermostat set to 17° but it’s only come on twice in the last week.

Lookingforasilverlining · 28/09/2023 19:00

Would a dehumidifier be cheaper? I have no idea.

melmonroe · 28/09/2023 19:03

It's still 22.5° downstairs so no heating on yet. We're lucky to have neighbours that put their heating on seemingly full whack and we benefit

Thankgodforwine · 28/09/2023 19:11

I had mine on a few times I can't stand being cold ...when I'm in work I have it tropical 🍍🏝

Weefreetiffany · 28/09/2023 19:17

Can you put it on for an hour in the mornings or evenings? If you’re turning on the hot water for showers/cleaning anyway. I hate how damp it is this time of year, feel like our house needs to heat up a few times to stay at a good humidity too. The cost of fuel should be coming down as wholesale prices have.

Roselilly36 · 28/09/2023 19:17

You can’t live in my county, still really warm here, windows open, French doors open all day. Can’t see us having the heating on anytime soon.

oneandabitsugars · 28/09/2023 19:18

I've just put it on for an hour to take the edge off.

MeinKraft · 28/09/2023 19:20

Have you done all the normal winter things you forget over summer like pulled the curtains, shut all the doors and put draught excluders down, put your dressing gown on? If it's still cold after all that then stick it on for an hour.

HappyHamstersinHats81 · 28/09/2023 19:20

My partner says I’m part lizard! … I could bask in the sun (or even just near a warm lamp!) alllllllll day. Much prefer to be toasty!

No heating yet, but it’s tempting

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 28/09/2023 19:22

2 pairs of socks and a hat and you'll warm up in no time. I wear 2 pairs of socks from now till March/April. If your feet and head are warm, the rest of the body is usually fine

RedRobyn2021 · 28/09/2023 19:37

We've had ours on a few times in the last 1-2 weeks, it's turned quite cold. Where abouts are you in the country?

We're in Yorkshire but have family in the south and I do think it's colder up here atm

CoraLovesMashedPotato · 28/09/2023 19:54

I've still got the bedroom windows open here!!

Callisto1 · 28/09/2023 21:18

It's getting to below 17 C inside our flat now, but that's the downside of living in the north I guess (central belt Scotland).

Whu · 28/09/2023 21:22

It’s good to pop it on for an hour - shouldn’t be left too long without a run it’s bad for the system and parts can seize up.

dothehokeycokey · 28/09/2023 21:29

South west here and still
Warm

Thermostat is saying it's 21 inside and I'm sat in a vest and shorts with all the windows in vent and a couple windows open.

I had the ceiling fan on today and yesterday although I've had a horrible virus this week so my body temperature is cocked up but it's generally mild here still

Going to try and not put heating on till October half term if I can help it

Savagecabbage101 · 28/09/2023 21:29

Just grab your hot water bottle and that’ll sort you out and have a nice warm drink.

Update...we caved in and put it on, room temp was around 13 for a few days so time for heating. Although 2 radiators aren't working so any money we saved not having the heating on will now be spent on repairing them 🙄
