Moving from tax credits to universal credit

Hi, I have been notified that I must move to a universal credit but 23rd October, I am currently on tax credits. I am concerned that I won’t get the £ 300 cost of living payment as the universal credit website says the dates 18 aug to 17 September are the qualifying dates to receive the payment. I contacted UC and she said to contact tax credits , he said I will get it based on me receiving for these dates on TC but he didn’t sound very confident . Anybody out there who works for Dow or knows for sure? Thank you

I'm wondering the same thing OP, we haven't had a date for migration yet but received a leaflet about it in the post yesterday so no doubt it won't be long. Hoping you get a definitive answer here so we all know where we stand!

You will get it because you will have no break in claiming benefits and people on tax credits and Uc are eligible for the payment. You will get it paid when those on tax credits get it paid which is slightly later than those on other benefits.

I had this last year, changed in aug, and neither could tell me of I was eligible.

It went into my bank last month randomly. So don't hold out hope on it coming soon.

If you have received a payment of tax credit in the qualifying period you will get the COL payment. The move to UC is after the qualifying period so won't affect it.

Hiya,

transferred from tax credits to UC as I received my letter to do so. I do work and I aspect to be having some trouble though, I’m trying to explain that the mileage I receive is not taxed and not income, it’s reimbursement however their saying that it will be considered as income. Surely that can’t be right? Anyone had anything similar?
I wish they left tax credits alone 😡

Hi Everyone! Just received the migration letter today and have to apply before 7th of February. Does this mean i can even apply on the 6th Feb or even 7th Feb ? Also, i get paid on the 11th of every month for the previous month work i-e 1st Jan to 31st Jan work, i will get paid on the 11th Feb. Please can you advise what date should i apply as i am planning to apply closest to the due date which is 7th Feb.

My Child Tax credit Payments will be 17th November - 15th December and 12th January.

Any helpful advice would be very much appreciated

I think i should apply for UC on the 13th January so that i can get the Tax credit payment on the 12th Jan and then first UC payment on the 20th of February. If i get paid on the 11th of each month and sometimes on the 10th & 9th due to Bank holiday etc, i think i am safe from getting 2 payments in 1 assessment period ? Correct ?

If you qualified for it on tax credits then you'll get it. I doubt there will be any more after the one currently being paid though.

You should get it. You can report a missing payment on the GOV, Uk site if it doesn't appear, hopefully it will.
