New British Gas app

After a Summer of the old app not working, missing out on Peak Save events because they couldn't take readings, and then I thought it was finally fixed.......they've now released a new app which doesn't even show your usage!! I used the app a lot last winter to keep an eye on things. Anyone else?

The app is the same it's always been for me and showing my usage as normal? No updates showing as needed.

yes, i've also been moved from their old billing system to new so have to use the new app, and also was annoyed no usage shown. It also mistakenly stated my in credit ammount was debit for a while!

The new app is next to useless. Still no usage showing, and it doesn't give any info on direct debits (previously it would advise you what you should pay to stay on track).

New app now seems to be making an effort at showing usage...up til 2 July which is when the old app died. I'd quite like to know where I stand in September...

I was on a beta trial for the new app. It's crap. I told them all the things that were wrong with it, and the things which needed to be included (like usage) in my feedback (presumably others did too) but it didn't help. They released it anyway. Last time I bother do a beta trial for them.

The British Gas app is without a doubt the absolute worst one I use, always has been. It's always down, it's the most apologetic app...

The new app is rubbish. I have a dual rate meter but ut won't let me input the two different readings. They're still trying to figure out how to get this sorted. Completely useless!

I complained on Friday and was told it was a policy complaint and not something they contractually had to do so the complaint was immediately closed. We should all be grateful that they even offer this paltry service so they say, because they don't have to! Confused

New British Gas app is a load of rubbish it does not show your usage which used. All it can is submit meter reading which is useless as I have a smart meter.

come on British Gas Change it back as you are even further behind then the rest of the energy providers

I will now be looking a new provider who will support me with an app which help me control my energy

What has British Gas done by introducing this new App? All the relevant features that you need have disappeared. Can't use my digital password so back to the old numbers, letters, etc. Can't see usage. Why have they done this? I'll give them a month then change to another energy provider that can provide all functions on an App. I think they will have a lot of very unhappy customers.

It’s dreadful. Literally pointless without being able to see usage. The old one lagged behind a few days but this one doesn’t even try. Surely usage is the most important function of the app!

I haven’t tried the app and reading this don’t think I should bother but normally log in online, I can see usage but previous system showed full charges for the month and now it only shows usage so if I want to work out what I would be billed for September I have to add in the standing charge myself. Seems ridiculous really and not at all representative of what people need from a billing system

BG went to we went to be ahead of the game and be amazing and invite customers in??? No no thank you we want to be the year 2000 and a bit shit.

Thank you for this - I logged onto the website today and was surprised that my usage seemed low - I hadn't realised they had taken out the standing charge. You're right, it's not at all helpful. We are quite a low use household so the standing charge is a huge % of our overall costs.

Has anyone else got the problem of no bill issued since the app change? I was getting a bill on the 6th of each month, now there's none. So I'm stresses because I can't see my usage/payment amount.

They tend to bill every 3 months I think normally. I’ve just gotten mine like £690 🫣

It's an appaling app and definitely a step back into the 20th century. So useless.

@PolarTree ive been billed this week, so at least that bit is working! I can't get over with dual fuel they can't even name the account gas or electric you're just supposed to know which is which based on the account number. it's so ridiculous, we know they're making millions every day , they definitely didn't spend anything on the app

Yes British Gas app old and new absolutely rubbish never had any satisfaction !! A real embarrassment for such high profile company, can’t even keep tabs on my usage and charges so got no idea if I’m overcharged etc ???

Mine hasn't shown electricity usage since early December, yet they still keep reminding me about Peak Save - which doesn't work when the meter isn't working!

My elec usage hasn't shown in the app or on my meter since mid Dec. Anyone else? They say it's a known issue with faulty meters!

The app has only ever shown my electric, and as dual fuel customer I am now panicking my gas bill is going nuts! The talking bot is worse than useless. When I go online I also only get my electric. Any tips???????

I did and do have a combo of all the issues above.
They changed the account to a new system in winter last year, so I passed from having a really good tracking of our usage, bills, daily usage, and comparisson to other years to only have whatever the smart meter could give me.
Then, even having an smart meter, they overcharged me in the bills, for £160! Which they returned in the next bill.
Now, I can see my usage, charges, including standing charge online. But some days there is no transfer for the gas usage. The predicted bill online does not match my smart meter, remotely! And they have not billed me since September.
It is just bonkers!
