Confused on when UC stops

Does anyone know of universal credit stops the day you start a new job or the day you get paid from the new job. If it the first one then surely we'll be out of pocket substantially. Can't find anything on this or get a response from job centre.
Thanks

It stops, or is reduced depending on the salary received in the Assessment Period when you first get a pay packet for your work.

Say you're on UC now and your AP runs from 27 August to 26 September. You start a new job on 01 September but you're pay day is last day of the month - banking days mean this is Friday 29-09.

You'll get UC on approx 03/10 for the AP ending in September as before.

If your salary is high enough that the amount left after Work Allowance (if you have one) and Taper is more than your Max UC then you'll get nowt for the september - october AP.

If you've got kids and particularly pay rent in an expensive area and/or have childcare costs you can still get a UC top up even on a salary well over £40k pa.
