Stressed with transport

Not to sure if this is the right place to post. But I have a family member in hospital who will be in hospital for many many weeks. I need to go visit twice a week at the very least. But how do people afford this? I don't drive and the hospital is almost two hours away on a bus. An hour away by car. I also have to pay for and take their poorly partner to get the bus with me. And just to make things more awkward, the visiting times don't correspond to bus times so we are left waiting for a bus for some hours. Has anyone else been in this predicament? A taxi costs £70 I think.

How did you manage transport if you have been through similar? Did you just continue getting the bus? Or does the NHS provide any transport for visitors at all? Thank you very stressed!!

Look at community transport in your area, if there are organisations running community transport then it will be cheaper than a taxi.
