Can you have tax free childcare and childcare vouchers?

That is the question. We used to have a build up of vouchers but it has gone down a lot now. So I wanted to see about this. I think the answer is no but it is not very clear on the gov website

I thought tax free replaced vouchers. But I guess if f you were in a couple you could claim both if one of you had stayed on vouchers. No idea if you could use both though.

No you can't. Once in the voucher scheme you can continue to buy more I believe but just no new joiners. If TF childcare would be more beneficial for you, there is probably a way of using up all vouchers remaining then leaving that scheme and joining TF childcare but I've never looked into it as we've always been on TF childcare.

No you can’t.

Thanks. I knew someone would just know.

Ive always thought it wasn't better for us as we get through childcare vouchers for free rather than salary sacrifice but perhaps as higher rate taxpayer there comes a tipping point where it becomes cheaper. I don't know what that is though.

If you earn over £100k as a higher rate tax payer you can’t get tax free childcare so stick with vouchers if you can!

You can be in both for a 90 days crossover period. And you can continue to use up your vouchers while you’re using tax free childcare. You just can’t buy anymore vouchers after that 90 day period.
