UC increase

I received an increase of £100 in June which isn't 10% of my original payment. Has yours gone up by 10%? I thought it would be increasing by £170 ish a month seeing as I originally received £1788. Am confused (which doesn't take much).

Anyone?

How is your UC award made up, as in what allowances and elements are in your Max UC?

Is there a change in any earnings or other benefits that affect your monthly payment?

PaniniHead · 04/07/2023 20:56

Are you subject to the benefit cap?

AutisticLegoLover · 04/07/2023 21:01

No cap. One adult, 2 children, housing benefit and carer's element.

Is your housing already at the local housing allowance limit? That wasn’t uprated.

AutisticLegoLover · 04/07/2023 21:06

My assessment period was 7th April to 6th May then 7th May to 6th June so I wonder why I didn't receive an increase until June. There's no pay from anywhere to affect it. I'm a full time carer for my mum.

@PaniniHead ah, that might be it. That's rubbish considering rents have gone up.

UC doesn’t set the local housing allowance unfortunately

PaniniHead · 04/07/2023 21:09

The updating didn’t come in until assessment periods starting on or after 10th April. As yours in April started before that it wouldn’t have applied until period 7th May - 6th June

It is likely that a significant portion of your award is the rent element which has not gone up by 10%.
