Ive made a brand new claim for uc first time this week

It showed me the maximum i can get

Do i just work out how much i need? Or do i just take the lot? As i really dont have a single penny as im unemployed atm but i am seeking employment.

You have two years to pay it back. They'll deduct it at a rate of 1/24th per month.

Thats the thing. I don't know. Ill have a look at my outgoings and see what i need till my 1st pymt in 5 weeks.

Once Im employed, is there an alternative that will i able to pay back more in that month to pay it off earlier?

Maybe, but also there is nothing to stop you not spending a portion of it and just keeping it to one side so that you have it ready to pay back.

£1000 would be just over £40 per month to pay back.

@Lougle yes i would have to keep hold of this advance pymt very tight and just use it to pay the bills. Thank you

If you're in straightened circumstances and waiting for/relying on a UC advance don't be afraid to prioritise bills. Keeping a roof over your head, the gas/leccy on and kids fed matter. A bank waiting for their unsecured loan less so. Don't just not pay, explain....
