Ive messaged to them online about me and ex seperated and also the end of my self employment (as it wasnt working out for ages so ive nearly finished working out the self assessment tax return online).

My submitted form has been rcvd by them on 8th May. Gotta wait 2 weeks more. Fingers cross.

BUT i need to tell them about me being unemployed..i cannot find it for the life of me where do i click on the website or am i best to call them?

(I was on working tax credit and child tax credit, i wasnt due to move over to UC till next year, but it will be now)

You don't need tell them that you are unemployed.
You'll probably have to fill in another tax return next year though

I had a government gateway issue this morning - needed to update my tax credits and couldn't find the username. So much information needed to get it back!!

Anyway if you go on gov.uk/managetaxcredits you should be able to log in. It was a bit tricky as it wanted to know if I had any changes April 22-April 23, and I had to search for a bit to update my work hours from May, but there's a view and change my tax credits.

Hope this helps?

HMRC.is split into three departments online. Tax and national insurance being one section and with pensions another section and thirdly benefits the third section.

I assume you can claim universal credit by ringing their special number. Google it and see what comes up. I used to be on child tax credit so am not up on the new rules.

Blackbyrd · 26/05/2023 16:55

You can make a new claim for UC online and that will automatically cancel your tax credits claim. Be sure though, because you can never go back to tax credits

Zippedydoo123 · 26/05/2023 17:03

Google shows Universal Credit helpline 0800 328 5644. Call them first thing Tuesday. 8am I assume.

@Blackbyrd as soon i told them im seperated. Its automatically canx my working tax. I havent made a new uc claim .

Thank you everyone ive read up what i needed to do 😊😊
