Refund from energy company

Saw yesterday that Martin Lewis is advising that if you are in credit with your energy company the start of May is the time to ask for a refund.
I submitted readings last night, asked for a refund and have £210 on its way back to me.
So … if you’re in credit, and need a bit of cash, do it!

We were in credit with the energy company and got a refund, then they wanted to up our direct debit to make up the shortfall? So I am a bit wary now.

I guess it makes sense that if you have built up credit over winter you won't need it in summer though 😊

I'm only about £100 in credit so I'll leave it where it is given my usage last month was £280ish

I got £800 back last month. I've put it aside for next winter. Rather it was in my bank account than theirs just in case the company runs into difficulties.

I'd request the refund but if I do my energy company will increase my dd, they over estimate it by a ridiculous amount

I have a fair bit of credit in my energy account but I have reduced my direct debit to recoup the money that way. I will increase my monthly dd in the autumn to build up a cushion to cover next winter.

I thought the prices were supposed to be going down but our monthly direct debit is still double what it was 7 months ago!
