Hi,
I now have a school age child, where's cheapest nice place (in UK as no passports) in school holidays?

Just managed a cheap break to Butlins due to way holidays fall but won't be able to next year.

Are the school really strict with attendance? Could you have a look at when the inset days fall and book a week then? They can't fine you for having 4 days off. That's what we do but we are in Wales and are lucky the school is generally OK with this.

I think they may be ok, just got a new head but I'd prefer not to have to take him out of school really.

Caravan holidays in Scotland are much cheaper than Cornwall/Devon/Wales etc, and the beaches are amazing.

@Stripycatz can you recommend somewhere specific? Scotland sounds good.

Hoeseasons are the cheapest out of the Butlins / Haven type breaks. Might be worth a browse on there.

My friend has just got back from a place called
Stanwix park which is a holiday park in Cumbria
She had an amazing time and think she only paid £380 for 4 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids

We usually found Haven breaks were cheaper. You can get cheap flats and holiday home rents in some out of the way places in Scotland.
Grannies Heilan Hame is well up the country fabulous beach’s, lots of scenery but weather can be a problem and it is looking a bit tired.
Lots of holiday camps in Yorkshire.
Ayrshire is lovely. Book well in advance to get cheap breaks. We have one for 4 days on 19th June this year costing £89 last year I got one for £79. And one for £99. Sign up for holiday places and book at the end of December.

Went there years ago with children ,didn't realise how far away it was, got to 9.00pm & had to find a hotel for the night on the drive up! It also rained all week in july☔

What area do you live in OP? As presumably if you are trying to save money you would rather not travel too far .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/04/2023 21:39

Oh! Lancashire ?
