I'll readily admit this thread has made me feel rubbish. All my clothes come from charity shops or Primark, I don't have expensive make up, I travel sometimes but it's always done on the lowest budget possible.

As many of us have said fuck all as have said loads. We're all in different situations. 💐💐

strawberryicecreamice · 15/04/2023 11:43

£10 if I'm very lucky

GetYourActTogether1 · 15/04/2023 11:46

1k per month and my DH and I use joint money to pay for my phone, spa and cinema membership.
Sometimes it’s more if my ISA’s have had a good month and I’ll spend some of the profit.

shivawn · 15/04/2023 14:17

€2600 goes in to a spending account that's shared with my husband. We buy groceries and fuel out of this account too. It's a lot of money but we seem to absolutely fly through it every month.

I’ve just had to meet my mum and ask her to pick up my prescription and pay for it and buy us some bin bags and Yorkshire puddings..

I have about 50% of my wage left after bills and food. I try and save a good chunk for house repairs, holidays, long term etc. Which leaves me with 4-500 per wage. I don’t often spend it all. But we like a meal out/drinks couple of times a month. I buy second hand mostly . Big Vinted convert.
Money defo doesn’t stretch as far though!

I have no kids and seperate finances. Don’t even earn £2k never mind save it or have it spare. Don’t go into caring professions kids….😬

SleepHygieneHelp · 15/04/2023 21:31

Nothing. Got a week till payday and I'm minus £200. And have a weeks food shopping to do. Luckily we have an overdraft of up to £1000 with no charge and don't need any fuel for the car or any other expenses as all bills are paid. Hoping to catch up soon as we are going away for 2 weeks (paid for by in laws as a Christmas present) so won't have any expenses then but it's so hard each month right now.

whatkatydid2013 · 15/04/2023 22:41

After fixed bills and food/day to day household stuff shopping we have around 50% of our take home pay left. We budget a fixed amount per week for whatever we fancy. We spend very little on stuff really. We only get new clothes when the old ones get very worn out, new furniture when stuff is past saving etc and get lots of things second hand as we are quite keen to try to reduce/reuse where we can. I have a sewing machine and am getting fairly proficient at fixing things. I tend to spend money on myself to have coffees/lunches/nights out or a spa day or similar. We are very lucky to have easy access to the coast in an area with loads of fab wellness activities like swim/sauna, meditations/yoga, sunrise mindfulness sessions and similar

Remember this site isn't representative of the real world. Most people do not have 2k per month spare to blow on themselves, that's more than I even take home per month.

So you just ignoring rhe folks posting nothing then, they not important to you?

Nicklebox · 17/04/2023 14:51

£1668 between me and DH after all bills and food

malificent7 · 18/04/2023 22:41

About -500£! Life is an overdraft!

LovMydog · 19/04/2023 16:35

I bring home, after tax, about £1,400 & after all Bill's plus food & fuel come out too, I'm left with about £50 if I'm lucky. Divorced, have 2 teenage dc's with me 50/50 & a dog. I'm very happy with my life but very worried about money as I will find any further increases crippling.

Zippedydoo123 · 22/04/2023 11:03

£180 a month approx which is used for my skincare vitamins beautician (massage and pedicure) and unisex barbers haircut. This also has to cover my prescription meds every couple of months. Plus occasional travel costs for socialising and clothing.

Low income too my end. On the spectrum and cannot work endless hours plus do not qualify for PIP as it is only at its worst a third of the year....

SleepHygieneHelp · 22/04/2023 11:10

I'm now -498 in my account. Overdraft is max 500. Luckily I've got all my food for the week and all bills are paid. I get paid on Friday and have enough money for milk and bread in cash if I need it. Am going to have to ask for some credit back from my gas and electric supplier so I can manage next month and worry about winter energy bills when they happen. Feeling like a shit mum right now due to it all

IDontWantToBeAPie · 22/04/2023 14:58

Technically about £1500. But I have no kids and am having expensive dental work done so most of it is going on that.

Bluegreen143 · 05/05/2023 10:32

We keep 20% of our salary each as our own money. Husband usually has about £450 and mine is about £350 (but I just had a big pay rise, it was more like £300 I was taking before as I just tended to round to that rather than take an exact 20%).

Inevitably we end up chipping in with our personal money for some household projects depending how healthy the joint account looks, so we don’t spent all 20% on us.

I spend my money on:

  • clothes (but not much - I buy second hand or from Matalan/Tesco and wear stuff out before I buy more)
  • socialising (not big nights out but like a drink or two in the pub, hot drink out or buying a bottle for drinks at home, plus maybe taxis if I’m not driving - I prefer to go out a lot but not spend much each time rather than save up for big nights)
  • hobbies (I knit and sew clothes)
  • books (I do use the library too)
  • my phone bill, but it’s fairly low cost as I don’t get the latest phone
  • I tend to underspend each month to save up for an annual weekend away with my mum & sister and want to add one with friends too
  • I don’t spend on beauty, haircuts (do my own), salon treatments etc as that’s not my sort of thing

Husband spends his on:

  • beer and vaping
  • clothes (again not expensive stuff)
  • hobbies (woodwork and gardening)
  • phone bill
  • ”stuff” from Amazon 😂
  • about once or twice a year he has a guy’s night out
