To yourself every month? I mean for things for YOU. clothes, hair done, shopping trips, treats etc. how much are you left with each month?

Fuck all, give or take 10p

ssd · 14/04/2023 18:25

Why? I could say £1 or £1000

It doesn't affect your life either way

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/04/2023 18:34

How much are you left with? What I'm left with has no impact on you.

phoebebeebe · 14/04/2023 18:38

Probably about £20, after giving up my entire weekends to work as I can't afford childcare. I'm aware what others have has no affect on me, but knowing I'm not the only one in this situation and hearing from people would make me feel less alone. I'm not from universal credit or anything trying to track people! If you don't want to answer.. don't answer and scroll past 🤷🏼‍♀️

Technically around £1000 if we paid half of everything. Reality I spend maximum maybe £100 rest goes on DS, the house and savings. We both work in registered professions in a cheap area to live. I'm considering giving up work to go back to uni so it will be a lot tighter.

QueSyrahSyrah · 14/04/2023 18:47

About £1500 each BUT we don't have kids & live in a small flat so our living costs are generally very low.

Most of it gets saved for the day that we either have one, or give up on the idea completely and set off round the world.

Comparison is the thief of joy OP. If I offered you a swap, my disposable income for your kids, would you take it?

CybermanAshad · 14/04/2023 18:49

£0 lol

girlmeetsboy · 14/04/2023 18:50

I transfer everything to my plum bar the basics and then withdraw what I need, once I'm paid again I put the plum balance into premium bonds. I'm vey low maintenance and my friend cuts my hair etc. I barely spend anything on myself but would if I wanted too

livingthegoodlife · 14/04/2023 20:06

I don't routinely spend anything on myself, or on treats/clothes/hair etc. Nor does my DH. I don't really get the concept of adult pocket money.

All money is spent on bills and "stuff". If there is any spare then it goes in the holiday fun. I manage to save about £2k a year so hardly groundbreaking. My DH lost his job in janaury so we've spent everything weve got just buying food & bills.

The thought of treats is just laughable at the moment.I can't even afford new summer school dresses.

AlltheFs · 14/04/2023 20:08

None. But I have a horse. If I didn’t have the horse it would be £700! Can’t even ride her (she’s retired). Good job I love her.

BluebellBlueballs · 14/04/2023 20:09

About £500 but it all slips through my fingers like water.

That is true love ❤️

Kay286 · 14/04/2023 20:09

3.8k, try to save around 2k though.

Backtobed · 14/04/2023 20:10

No idea, DH earns the money

Christmascracker0 · 14/04/2023 20:12

I have about £1,200/£1,300 after ‘fixed’ bills to do what I like with 😬

Top tip - don’t buy a fecking horse 😂
Fastest way to go from £1200 to £0.

😂 yes something like that!

She is my best friend but 15 years on and now married, working part time in a CoL crisis with a preschooler I can’t actually afford her….but I can’t have her shot for being expensive. So I just fling £20’s at her and enjoy horse cuddles instead.

skyglass · 14/04/2023 20:45

We give ourselves £300 each, the total amount is 10% of our monthly net in-goings.

skyglass · 14/04/2023 20:48

(That's purely for us to spend on ourselves guilt free; I mostly spend it on beauty and clothes, DH spends it on his car and lego!)

WorriedMillie · 14/04/2023 20:49

Another one with a horse (technically a pony, but only by a matter of mm)
and not much spare money 🤣

BarryK3nt · 14/04/2023 20:51

Usually around £1000

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 14/04/2023 20:51

Depends on the month as we're both self-employed.

On average, probably £200 a week leftover after bills.

FrownedUpon · 14/04/2023 21:21

Around 2k. I save a lot of it though.

Twocoffeesisbetterthanone · 14/04/2023 21:23

DH and I have £50 each and everything else goes towards savings. Boring like that but our car and boiler broke and wiped out our mediocre savings :(

So now we're starting from £0

Pootlie · 14/04/2023 21:36

£2.5k but I have credit card debt which I'm paying off. And trying to save.
