I've seen tastecard advertised but also read horror stories of them taking direct debits out without your permission

I have had one in the past but only as an offer through work so can’t comment on the direct debit point. I found in the end I hardly used it because it’s only valid in most places Mon-Thu which is no good to me.

We had it for a year through work. Absolutely rubbish. An never be used anywhere as the window of use is so narrow. Avoid!

I used to have one and always used it for Pizza Express.... they don't take it anymore tho so I cancelled it. Was out with a friend last week and she has one which we used in Prezzo. It's worth getting if you eat at the restaurants that take it... remember most don't take it on Fridays or Saturdays tho.

Same. Utterly pointless

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/04/2023 13:58

I think I had a free one once, or very cheap. Practically useless, as there were so many conditions set by the restaurants, it was almost impossible to navigate. It may work out better some areas than others.

Meerkat meals?

When it first started it was quite useful. Now it's really shit and comes with far too many restrictions (with a very limited selection of restaurants compared to years ago)

Hidingawaytoday · 13/04/2023 14:35

I have one through work and rarely use it for the reasons others have stated - the one thing we do use it for is when we get a pizza delivery (which isn't very often!) as you also get deals on pizza hut and possibly dominoes takeaway too.

Oopswediditagain2023 · 13/04/2023 14:41

I was given one many years ago for free (no idea where from - possibly as a bonus for opening a bank account). I thought it was quite good as it covered a few independent restaurants near where I lived, as well as some of the chain places too. We used it all the time and definitely got our money's worth but I'm not sure what it's like these days

Groupon can be more useful for good deals on meals out.

GetYourActTogether1 · 13/04/2023 16:15

I use mine about three times a month, in fact I’m meeting a friend at Prezzo this evening. I have a cineworld card but buy one of my DC’s cinema tickets with it and that saves a few pounds.
I think it depends where you live, we live near a marina with a lot of chain restaurants that have lovely views so a one or two course meal there is very enjoyable.

My Prezzo night out was great last night, I had calamari, sea bass, a large glass of wine, water and the cost was £19.

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/04/2023 08:06

Also had it through work, hardly ever used it

hettiethehare · 14/04/2023 18:05

I had one through something or other and used it once I think and it was such a pain I never used it again in the year I had it.
