Spring 2023 Cost of Living Payment- assessment period ?

The government announcement says:

“The qualifying period for this payment is between 26 January and 25 February 2023. To be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment, you need to have been entitled to a payment for one of these benefits between 26 January and 25 February 2023, or payment for an assessment period ending between these dates”

However looking at my universal credit portal, the assessment periods are always from the 1st-last day of the month.

Will people with these assessment periods be entitled to the cost of living payment in April/May 2023?

Well if your assessment period ended on 31st January then that is between those dates. So if you were entitled in that period then it looks like you are eligible.

My assessment period was 4th feb.

As mine runs across that monthly date.

Everyone who has a monthly assessment will have an assessment date within the qualifying period. The payment will depend on if you got an award or not.

I only qualify because I get carers allowance (and lose a big chunk because I earn too much). I was surprised they did the assessment period during this time (and feel very lucky) because so many got CoL payrise at the end of year and so got nil awards in January.

I have a feeling some people who got pay rises backdated in December may get caught out if their assessment period falls on the first date of the qualifying period?

If you assessment period was between 1-31st of Jan, then you will be entitled, as you recieved a payment between 26th Jan - 25th Feb.

my assessment period runs from the 4th - 3rd, as we received a payment on 10th of Feb, we are eligible.

@itsgettingweird It’s probably why they chose them particular dates, knowing this government.
