This made me so sad

Not for myself ( I don't think) I just saw a young neighbour hurrying past with her pram and her little boy ,head down against the sleet. He was well wrapped up but tiny and looked so cold and vulnerable. She looked very cold and not warmly dressed .They stopped to speak to another neighbour ( elderly, cancer sufferer ) who was walking his dog and trying not to slip over. He lives in rather run down sheltered housing and has previously told me how much he struggles in cold weather. I heard him say " well I mustn't
complain " And they both told the other to take care. I am on very low income but give what I can to charity etc as do many others . Just been cancelling items off my shopping list and wondering how I'll pay everything this month but consider myself fortunate. But the sight of that little boy looking up at that old man. ...!

Maybe they genuinely had to leave the house in a hurry, it may be nothing to do with the cost of living.

I get it OP.
I came from a family of poverty.
People who have experienced poverty and trauma often have a keen sense of it … it’s often easier for others to ignore.
I would have felt that too, 💐

I work somewhere that has a 'warm space' and have served a few people 'gifted' meals and drinks.
One guy asked me if he was 'allowed' to sit with the other customers or he had to go somewhere else.
That spoke volumes to me about how poorer people are often treated (been there myself) and how many times this guy had been treated like that to expect it. Like he's not as human as someone with more money, whatever the reason that he has less.
As someone who has been broke and hungry & cold, it made me so sad.

I think that it's just that there is so much bad news at the moment. I keep thinking that life shouldn't be this hard especially for people with young families or people with disabilities.
