Mobile phone bill increase (EE)

Flowersflowers121 · 17/02/2023 11:58

Just had an email to say that my mobile phone bill is increasing by £12.26 a month from March due to the cost of living crisis.

Seems like a big increase to me, or am I being naive? Haha

Seeing as your increase is £7.26 more than I pay each month, it seems like a big increase too me too.

cocksstrideintheevening · 17/02/2023 12:03

How much is your bill?!

Logburnerperils · 17/02/2023 12:04

You must have a hefty contracy for it to go up so high though

Aposterhasnoname · 17/02/2023 12:05

Well that all rather depends how much you’re currently paying.

I received an email from EE saying my bill is increasing by £1.50. I am on Sim only though.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/02/2023 12:27

This will affect a lot of people on a few different bills because for the last year or two it's been hidden in the small print of a lot of contracts that bills will rise by inflation plus (generally) 3.9% and it's fallen lucky for the providers that inflation in the stated month means that they're entitled to about a 15% increase.

So either your mobile bill was about £70 a month, or this is an unfair term that you don't have to accept.

Take this as an opportunity to save a lot of money. Look what MSE advises on mobile bills. No-one has to pay more than about £10 a month for a very decent data allowance and unlimited calls and texts, so don't. Negotiate a very significant discount, or leave. Find out which SIM only provider uses the EE network (assuming you're happy with the coverage) and join them instead.

Parky04 · 17/02/2023 12:46

Blimey, I only pay £7 a month for my sim only contract!

pursudebyablackdog · 17/02/2023 13:02

Can you change your contract?
Would pay as you go be cheaper? My mobile is currently £5.00 a month which includes unlimited texts, unlimited LL calls, over a 1K mins to other mobiles (in UK) and 10GB data.

OhmygodDont · 17/02/2023 13:04

Not looking forward to mine and still locked in for 14 more months.

@pursudebyablackdog

who you are with?

I think Plusnet uses EE.

MintJulia · 17/02/2023 19:03

That's a lot. I only pay £10 a month with EE. If they try to put mine up, I'll go back to PAYG.

lieselotte · 17/02/2023 19:18

DH and I are with 02 and have a SIM only tariff of £11 each but it will go up in April.

DS is with Giffgaff, £10 a month.

Okunevo · 17/02/2023 19:41

I've recently switched to Lebara with a MSE deal. I'm paying £1.49 a month for six months, then £6.90 a month, so just over £100 for two phones for the year.

I signed up just as the deal was ending but I have a referral code for three months at half price if anyone is interested, they have £5, £10 plans and so on. Link here

LillethCrane · 17/02/2023 19:50

I received an email to say the bills are going up by 14.4% I think it was. Felt steep to me too…
