How was yours?

For me:

1 bed flat with just me in it. Heating on at 21 in the day, 18 overnight this year for health reasons. Tumble dryer used once a week.

Gas 1570kwh / £160.77 (last year 706kwh)

Electric 56kwh / £18.49 (last year 149kwh)

Standing charges £23.16

£202.42 altogether, so about what I expected.

I give readings as and when so it's hard to work out!
But 2 bed apartment
Looks like about £3.40 a day for gas and £2.30 for electric
So roughly £170? Heating set to 19c for a couple of hours pm and an hour in the morning

Notcontent · 01/02/2023 13:27

I just checked online and have my January gas bill - £260! This is for a small 3 bed terrace with double glazed windows. And i have been quite frugal.

Notcontent · 01/02/2023 14:08

Just to add that for that £260 my guise was not particularly warm - 19 in the kitchen diner where we spend most time ( during the day but not every day) and only short bursts in the upstairs bedrooms - so usually around 16 degrees, which is less than I would want ideally.

Notcontent · 01/02/2023 14:09

House, not guise…

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 01/02/2023 14:12

3 bed. 4 people.

£160 on gas. £100 on electric. Roughly same KWH as last January.
Hoping with the warmer weather I can get the gas down this month.

Notcontent · 01/02/2023 18:24

@MeMyCatsAndMyBooks that’s quite low for gas. Is your house very well insulated and/or modern?

WaddleAway · 01/02/2023 18:31

£121.93 electricity.
£227.74 gas.

Detached 4 bed house. 2 of us working from home and a disabled child meaning we have the heating on warmer than we would otherwise (including overnight).

Suzie0003 · 01/02/2023 18:45

4 bed detached, 4 of us at home. £194 for both for the month

aibutohavethisusername · 01/02/2023 18:57

We have being paying £272 a month for a two bed flat, 3 adults,

Called them today and due to being massively in credit they have reduced the direct debit down to £150. We are using about £118 a month so we will still be accruing credit.

They are also refunding us £900. So pretty pleased.

IconicKitty · 01/02/2023 19:00

£107 electricity and £93 for gas. But we only have the heating on at 16c for about 4 hours a day.

BMW6 · 01/02/2023 19:09

2 people in 2 bed Victorian terrace, CH on all day at 19, down to 15 overnight.

Gas £184 Electric £1.45 (after £67 credit)

herewego9 · 01/02/2023 19:14

I did an experiment over December and January. December I set the thermostat at 19 and didn't touch it so heating was on pretty constantly. This month I only put it in for an hour in the opening and two hours at night through the week and a hit kore at weekends.

December bill £410
January hill £400

So I'll be continuing with the constant thermostat at 19 for the sake of a tenner.

RomansTheyGoTheHouse · 01/02/2023 19:16

£338 for both gas and electric.

I expected/targetted £341 so that was actually 'good' news.

AM130674 · 01/02/2023 19:17

£430 4 bed detached old (ie draughty!), 3 adults, 3 kids. Me working from home 4 days a week. Heating in one hour in morning, hour at bedtime, immersion on for an hour in the evening Confused

December was about the same.

justcantgetenough · 01/02/2023 19:30

£90.00 for both gas and electric mostly just me in 3 bed house. Heating on 8-8 at 17c

I'm still on April fixed price, I really hope prices go down before Sept 23 when my 2 year fixed comes to an end.

GG1986 · 01/02/2023 19:49

400 for the month

2 bed victorian terrace, 2 adults, 2 young children

Heating been on 18 throughout day and 16 at night, using tumble dryer and washing machine a lot, on maternity leave and partner works from home full time. So it was about what we expected.

Nolongera · 01/02/2023 19:51

Gas £96
Electricity £55
Combined standing charges £22

£173 less 66 from the government

So total £107 for January.

dementedpixie · 01/02/2023 19:54

Mine was £180 for gas and £180 for electricity for 1st to 31st of January

4 bed detached in scotland with 2 adults and 2 teens

Nutrigrainygoodness · 01/02/2023 19:58

Electric £80
Gas £73

I can't set my heating to a certain temp. It's either on or off.
I never say no when someone wants the heating on, but they generally only knock it on for an hour. 😊

Loafbeginsat60 · 01/02/2023 20:07

3 bed Old farm cottage we are renting

One storage heater
Two oil fired heaters on low
Two electric radiators in kids rooms on low
Dehumidifier in bathroom daily

£344.80 for January.

Washing machine and tumbler drier on once a day.

I need to start unplugging stuff!

whirlyhead · 01/02/2023 20:10

3 bed well insulated terrace, 2 adults WFH, heating on 4 hours a day at 19. House is quite warm in general. My bill was £307 down from £450 the month before so i was quite happy!

sanityisamyth · 01/02/2023 20:18

Refusing to put the heating on. Electricity bill around £95. I pay £100 each month but get £65 paid back from the government support so gathering a good amount of credit.

GoldCherub · 01/02/2023 20:29

December £480 January £476. Both figures before £67 comes off. Direct debit is £280. February my overpayments will have gone. Hopefully March will be warmer as our house is never empty.

18 degrees upstairs and 19 downstairs. Cranked up to 22 degrees twice a week for visitors.

If things don’t change by next winter I will have no overpayments or £67 to help (which I think is the right thing as it’s ridiculous that I got £67 a month when there are people who can only turn their heating on for an hour and sit in 16 degrees freezing cold).

Woolandwonder · 01/02/2023 20:36

238 gas
88 electricity.

V similar to December.

2 of us in 3 bed house, but we rent and it's poorly insulated, and I wfh and have chronic health issues so am quite inactive so have the heating on more than I might do otherwise. Fortunately we'd built up a decent amount of credit for the winter.

WombatBombat · 01/02/2023 20:40

£155 in total, gas & elec combined. Will also get the govt money off.

4 bed house, 3 people.
