I can't afford Clinique anymore

Can you please recommend cheap but good alternatives to Clinique moisturiser and cleanser. I simply can't afford Clinique anymore. Has to be hypoallergenic. Thanks.

I use Simple cleanser and either L'Oréal Revitalift or Palmer's cocoa butter for moisturizer.

Boots no.7 is great.

This is my worry. The Clinique moisturiser makes my skin shiny and clear. Shit it's hell being poor......

Thanks for all your replies. I have dry sensitive skin. Used Clinique Take the Day Off cleanser, yellow miracle moisturizer for day, and super rich night cream. My skin was beautiful.

Simple waterboost micellar gel wash & moisturizer (the one in the tub not tube).

Amazing, simple ingredients, no fragrance, makes my skin smooth and lovely. Available everywhere and often on offer in Boots/Superdrug.

M&S Formula isn't cheap. I recommend the Simple range. Their basic moisturising lotion (approx £3-4) is a favourite of mine. They also do targeted serums at a good price.

My DD uses The Ordinary, she has sensitive skin and finds it works really well.

Passthecake30 · 24/01/2023 22:35

I’m also a Clinique fan due to ultra sensitive skin, a few years ago I swapped to Superdrug Pure for the cleanser, wash and toner and still use the yellow Clinique cream, superdefense, eye cream and turnaround - but I buy on offer at Xmas when they throw in multiple free gifts/discounts. In my bid to be more eco I currently have a Clinique facial soap bar on the go, expensive but I think it will last forever!
How are the people using the blue Nivea getting spf protection?

Boots no.7 is great.

I find it awful.

OP, I know if you can't afford it, then you can't.

But if you can at all, prioritise your skin. I find cheaper brands are bad for my skin, and don't last long either.

I use Clarins. Now I'm in my 40s the appropriate range is very expensive. I don't always use a night cream, rarely use an eye cream (often get samples or free gifts tho) but I compromised by swapping out the cleanser & foaming cleanser (to Simple) but I kept up with the serum + moisturiser. It's just a deal-breaker for me.

I ask for it as birthday presents, reduced the cost of my makeup, watch out for special offers & gift sets.

It's pricey & I have to do without sometimes but I try!

Happened upon using aveeno baby moisturiser as a night cream by accident when in the depths of post partum self depression but I was so impressed! £2.50 for a big tube too!

Jonesy88 · 25/01/2023 21:10

Self depression = sleep deprivation! Obviously not over it!

Marks and Spencer own brand beauty is fantastic - their pure cleaner is brilliant and just as good as the Clinique foaming cleaners. If you use the balm, I’d swap for super facialist oil, which emulsifies well.

for moisturiser, which one do you use? Boots do a basic hyaluronic acid moisturiser for £6 which is a bit like the gel one, or againM&S Formula range is great for moisturiser - both day and night cream.

This.

A friend used to work in marketing back in the day, and checked the factory codes on my M&S and Clinique stuff. Some of it was very similar and from the same factory.

Pradapopsyloulou · 25/01/2023 22:46

Even Clinique sensitive irritates my skin! I’ve used Nivea q10 but now onto the Aldi and Lidl q10 stuff which is equally good. A beautician friend told me years ago that you pay for the packaging - check out what’s in it. Also contributing to good skin is what goes into your body so hydration and a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and veg, little or no meat and limited carbs all helps together with some exposure to sun for vitamin D with a good sunscreen.

lieselotte · 26/01/2023 20:47

I like the Superdrug vitamin E range too. I use the hot cloth cleanser and the SPF moisturiser.

I also like the Aveeno moisturiser which is more expensive, but probably quite a bit cheaper than Clinique.

You could buy a cheap cleanser and keep with the Clinique moisturiser. You wash off the cleanser, it doesn't really matter what you use as long it works and doesn't irritate your skin.

Moo Goo full cream moisturiser.
You can get it from Holland and Barratt and some independent chemists.
It's very good value at £11/£12 a tube that will last you over 6 months if used only on your face. It's very gentle and almost unfragranced.
It's recommended for people with exczema and dry skin.
I like it because there's no mineral oil or silicones.
It's fabulous!

I absolutely love face theory! It’s really reasonable and has really sorted my skin out

RomansTheyGoTheHouse · 02/02/2023 19:49

Another vote for the Inkey List.

I use aldi now , their micellar water along side their pump moisturiser works for me

Octopus45 · 10/02/2023 18:10

I'm another Superdrug Vitamin E user. I dont use the cleanser at the moment (I'm using some Asda own brand facial wash), but use the moisturiser and night cream. They were on buy 1 get 1 half price not long ago.
