BG have estimated my gas usage

My meter has been broken and frozen on same meter reading since October 20th. BG at fault as it froze on the same day they starting migrating my account to new platform.
I have been nagging them on email once every two weeks since then and all they write back is that hopefully someone from the meter team will be in touch soon.
I've seen on my account that they have done an estimate yesterday, but no figure showing.
How will they estimate? From April to October last year we used £30 (24m3 per month) of gas per month. Last winter's usage will be no good as we were without a boiler for the coldest part. So we paid very little gas, but huge electricity bill for heaters. How will they work out our gas bill? I'll be very cross if they pluck a figure out of thin air as we have been so careful.

Your low gas readings last year may work in your favour, electric shouldn't come into it if that meter is working. I don't know the legalities of charging you anything other than the sc without any proof though, hopefully someone should know.

Electricity meter is working and accurate. Yes I don't know legally where I stand. If they do take last year's usage that would be amazing. We paid £47 for gas from October 2021 to March 2022.

Is there anything stopping you from inputting online the actual meter reading - as in the frozen reading? This is factually correct, as it is what is shown.

You wouldn't be being dishonest, as you are in communication with them regarding the faulty meter.

@hedgehoglurker Good idea! It should override any estimated reading.

@hedgehoglurker just done it and it let me! Great thinking. If nothing else it will hopefully remind them that I am still waiting for an engineer. I live in hope.
