Smart meter woes any advice please?

Hi all
Recently moved into our first bought home. The house is registered with Shell energy, obviously it's not very easy to switch at the moment. Apparently the smart meters work but the inhouse display does not. I've been told this is an issue with all smets2 (?!) meters and basically to suck it up. I have had smart metres since they came out (always been brilliant) and just want to know what we're spending day to day. Has anyone else had this issue recently? I've never been with Shell either and not impressed so far. Sorry it's such a boring question 😂 basically does your smart meter still work?!?

I'm with shell. But use the app to track daily what I'm spending is that an option for you?

I am with Shell and have smart meters. I use the app or the Loop app with I prefer.

I think you can get the older meters to talk to the Hugo and Loop apps. Worth investigating.
But yes, old smart meters not talking to new suppliers is a thing.

Our new house is Shell. I'm less than thrilled with them but, so far, they aren't as bad as some. I'll be moving when the market opens up again.

I've had a smart meter installed about 3 weeks ago as well as new smart electric and gas meters. The display on the smart meter showed daily usage. I cross checked with the actual meters as I know sometimes that they don't always pick up if the smart display is too far away from the gas or electric meter. Same Kwh on both. So I thought it was accurate.
However when I got my bill for 15 day period, it was £98 compared to my smart meter display saying £59!!
I have contacted Octopus to see if they can rectify it.

My IHD is rubbish so I use the Loop app instead

Nosey, could it be that the display doesn’t show standing charges? I’ve also got smart meters that are dead as you couldn’t change supplier using them (apparently). Seems pointless. First thing I did when I moved in was change suppliers.

Thanks for the replies lovely people I will look at the Loop app. Basically I can log in to Shell account and see our usage but missing having that screen in our house if that makes sense. Think in all the rentals I've been in over the years I must have cycled through most suppliers but this one just feels utterly crap especially at a time when we all want to know what things cost!

That's strange.

I was with Pure Planet and had an IHD from them. They collapsed and Shell took them over. The IHD transferred over all fine.

We had a meter fitted in August. It has never displayed electricity usage. Shell say it’s an “ industry wide issue” Frustrating
