Scottish Child payment extended to 16

As of today you can get a payment of £25 per child, per week for all children under 16 if you are in receipt of UC/ other legacy benefits. I always bang on at people to check their entitlements. If you have child/ren and high childcare costs/ rental costs you could still be entitled to a bit of UC even if your family earnings are £40k

These payments will be backdated to the date of application (much like child benefit) so the sooner you apply, if eligible, the better.

Very easy and straight forward application. They need your name, address, NI number, contact telephone number and the names of your children. They will check with social security Scotland themselves. You don't need ID/ birth certificates etc, if you are claiming you are already in the system. It'll take 10-15 minutes of your time.
