It was 55p for the exact same size bag in 2019 and 85p ‘price lock for 6 weeks’ two days ago, now it’s 95p all of a sudden? How does that even work?

I really despair. And worry for this country.

That's true where I live. But there are some places in the US where the minimum wage is very low ($7.25 an hr) and food prices have soared.

Same here (Italy)
I'm going to England next week and will be stocking up on stuff to take back (including pasta at this rate!!)

AdoraBell · 01/11/2022 16:46

De Cecco pasta is £2 here too, Somerset. This week it’s on offer in Waitrose, 2 packs for £3. The offer last year was 2 packs for £2. with the normal price being £1.25.

41p at Asda

You could but that for around 25p not that long ago though. Sometimes you want something other than penne too

I found 1kg spaghetti in Sainsburys quite cheap.

marblemad · 06/11/2022 00:07

birdseye 2 chicken breast fillets that were 1.25 only a few weeks back are now £4.50 in our tesco today

Try being gluten free 😜

You and me both. We're definitely eating a lot more potatoes and rice these days. The Free From aisle prices are getting silly.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/04/2023 16:40

My cheap Dove face cream used to be 12 for 13 quid.

Now it’s 3 for 12 quid.

Soccermumamir · 26/04/2023 06:18

Mine has always been over £1 because I'm gluten free.

RudsyFarmer · 26/04/2023 06:52

I heard a radio presenter say yesterday that an organic chicken was £27 in Sainsburys when she went in recently.

xogossipgirlxo · 26/04/2023 09:37

79p in lidl. Btw. I remember when Asda was selling gluten free pasta for 42p. It’s £1.20 now. Not everyone is coeliac, but some people don’t handle gluten very well. Bread price is even more terrifying.

Echo40 · 27/04/2023 01:46

I read that Ukraine is impacting more on bread and bread related products.
As hard wheat.
Durum wheat for pasta is grown in Italy and had poor harvests last couple years.
The value penne used to be 28p in 2020 and 2021 now its 41p/ 45p depending which supermarket.
Its not my favourite pasta don't mind the value spagetti.
Now standard pasta £1 or above.
Rice massively increasing lidls used buy 8 bags boil in bag rice 89p now £1.49.

Everything is going up sadly and don't think will change Any time part brexit part poor harvests.
