Can someone help me work out this fuel payment thing?

I'm confusing myself. We are on a fix with eon. Our usage works out at around £110 p/m. Our DD was set at 180 to build some credit for over winter.

They are applying the discount, taking out payment down to 113. So all that is happening is we are paying for usage, the discount isn't actually benefitting us as we are still not building any credit.

Does that make sense?!

Your payment is 113 but you will be credited 180.

You pay £113 and the government pays in £66/£67 to make it back up to £180.

You can of course increase your direct debit if you wish

The £67 from the government will go on your account and will build up your credit.

Eon aren't only reducing the direct debit, they are applying the same amount of credit to your energy account too - if you log on to your account online and check the payments section, you will see the £67 credit applied. I'm with Eon and can see they've done that with my account.

I’ve had this with Octopus (I think the energy firms are applying govt help differently), but I pay an extra 67 pm (ie top up to my normal DD) to try to build a surplus.

Ah gotcha, I'll have a look. It has been hurting my head this morning. 😂
