Washing machine cold / eco settings

Has anyone used these please? Does it save much money? Do you need to use special washing capsules for cold water or not? Thanks

It saves a lot of money. Not everything is suitable to wash at a lower temperature, but if you have clothes which just need freshening up, it is a great way to save.

I use Ariel cold wash gel which is great for low temp washing.

I have a smart meter and can see that washing at 20c has a lower impact on my power use. I use powder suitable for use in cold water, throw in laundry sanitiser and wash.

Anything that needs soaking or stain treating should be done prior to this, as this helps when washing at lower temps.
