Anyone not going to have heating on at all ?

So apparently my electric bill is going to be 2344.57 a year. And my gas will be 3363.23 a year.

According to the bill I just got between 8th-15th September I used 29.82 in electricity. And between 8th--15th September I used 2.22 in gas.

When winter sets in I'm planning on not having the heating on at all. We will wear extra layers and have blankets etc. Then my gas should be very simlar to what it is now?

I have heard that I could save money by using an air fryer ? And simlar gadgets is this true or is it just a trend ? Are they suitable for large familys ? Is there anything else that could help ?

Some years ago I had headaches and dizziness which were made worse by being anywhere warm, and lightened by being in cold. Won't bore you with long story, but thankfully health problem long since resolved. Anyway, we set out to keep heating off all winter, and when 1st November came (our usual date for turning it on) it seemed cold and we didn't think we would manage. However, we soon acclimatised, and by mid December it was no problem. We wore warmer clothes than usual, and just needed light blankets when sitting still. On the few days we got when the temp didn't go much above freezing point, we turned it on for 2 separate hour long spells to protect us from burst pipes. Haven't done it since then, but really didn't struggle that winter. However, our house is a terrace house with houses on each side, and so doesn't get as cold as some. A lot depends on your property. But that experiment all those yrs ago taught me that you can be comfortable in a house considerably cooler than we often keep them.

We were going to but we've just come back from holiday and the sofa, plates etc felt very cold so it's been on for a few hours. Using the log burner when we are in for long periods

Our plan is to keep the house at a safe temp of around 17 for damp purposes apart from that heat the person.

It's quite a mild evening tonight in London. No heating on but I actually feel quite warm..it was lovely and sunny earlier. I try to kid myself it's still summer for as long as I can!

I have a heated airer that I use for drying clothes. During the winter is gets used frequently as line drying is l as of an option. I have noticed that it really does provide a decent level of background heat in the room it’s in (currently my bedroom) as well as doing it’s primary function of drying washing. Quite a big investment, but totally worth it.
