Dehumidifier Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for a dehumidifier to dry laundry please.I have been offered a tumble dryer but its 10 years old and I'm thinking this may cost far more to run than a dehumidifier but then it depends on how much the dehumidifier Is to buy I suppose😏

This thread is a bit old now, but if you've landed here looking for recommendations, we've recently updated our best dehumidifiers round-up, full of products tried, tested and recommended by Mumsnet users.

My twenty year old tumble dryer cost less to run because it was so much quicker than my new one. It did shrink everything (got into the habit of buying a size up) and clothes would be red hot at the end, but it was cheaper to run. new condenser dryer takes 2-3 hours to dry a load and costs more, but nothing is shrunk.

If it's free, it might work out cheaper than the dehumidifier which aids drying, but can cost a bit if it's on for a long time. And they're expensive new.

It’s a tricky one,I’ve been thinking about a heated airer plus a humidifier but wondering about the cost as they’ll be on for hours.
My tumble dryer is not a heat pump one and dries clothes so quickly.

if you get one go for a low energy one, meaco do a range, I have a 10L which runs at 160w I believe- they can draw a fair bit though so deffo check the energy rating and choose one off that rather than getting a cheap one- it'd be a false economy the way things are going.
